Jon (#6), sure it is, and perhaps it is presumptuous of me to critique your blog. It's yours to do with as you please. It's just that this particular piece didn't seem to have enough original content to merit publication. (The subsequent entries are more like it.)

Let's face it - in order to succeed in politics, you really have to have a big ego. You have to think highly of yourself and everything you touch in order to survive the clawing and scraping needed to get to the top of the pile.

Us humans love living in denial, don't we? Bread and Circus is what keeps us worker bees happy. Disney, Hollywood, Las Vegas... these are all different flavors of America's Bread and Circus. Consider it sociological Prozac for the masses.

But, I don't think this phenomena is unique to the USA. Just look at Dubai... and shake your head, sighing heavily.

You know, it seems that there are many lovely brits out there who are confused by this blog.

Jon's blog is depicting this in a rather wonderful fashion. I'm enjoying the coverage of the incredibly diverse America which I know and mostly love... and I'm amused by the baffled responses folks have given thus far.
