As this is a blog, why can't we just communicate on Sports on this space rather than being refered to Twitter (once more)? If you want to provide "a single place for [us] to find [our] sportsnews" you better stop referring us to places outside the responsibilities of the ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ.

So the ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ have copied the Guardian (again)? I'm sure you're very aware that the Guardian did a rolling Sport blog over a year ago and stopped when they realised it was lame.

one of the very best thing's about the ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ,is the fact they are not scared to send you to an outside link,i think,and rightly so in my view,that the quality of journalism on the ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ sites in general,will always bring peolpe back here,,good luck,i'm looking forward to using the service.

At a time when the ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ is threatening to not bid for future broadcasting rights for F1 to save money it has the resource to enable someone to sit at a computer and cut and paste sports stories from across the web.

To be honest I can google these stories myself and read twitter all day, as long as my boss doesn't catch me.

Looking forward to this - it would be nice if there was a filter so that certain sports of personal uninterest could be filtered out of the feed.

Interesting concept (if slightly overkill), will be interesting to see how it works out.

I've thought for a while, a great idea would be a Most Popular app on all sports pages, with links to the Most Shared, Most Read and Most Viewed (videos) sport stories - exactly the same as on the ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ News pages.

Can you update the mobile web and Android app versions to have active links? Its pretty pointless on my phone otherwise. I agree with Williams filter comment as well.

I must confess, it seems as though twitter would be the perfect platform for a new sports feed. Sportsday Live simply appears to be the equivalent of a twitter account - following various sports journalists - for people who are incapable of registering themselves. However, if this is to be a successful startup, I would suggest that you create the same "auto-refresh"-style feed as currently used by the ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ website for covering individual sports events. Requiring the user to refresh the page to get the latest news is an unnecessary hassle that has already been eliminated on other parts of this website!

I have to say this is pretty inane stuff. The vast majority of it so far is very much crushingly dull filler (Novak Djokovic still happy about winning Wimbledon, Haye is still a sore loser, etc. etc.). Could be useful around transfer deadline day, but the ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ always has live update feeds around that time anyway. I can't help but think this is just an ill-conceived attempt to score points against Sky, which has taken its Sports News -which provided almost exactly the same mixture of tittle tattle and non-news - off freeview.

I'm with #8 - auto-refresh would be a lot better. I like the idea of Sportsday Live, and have had it open in the background all morning. However, when I just looked again, the entry at the top was from 9:26.

Oh, and one other thing, it would be good (although not as populated, admittedly) if the posts on there were of actual articles, or confirmed news of transfers, moves, etc, rather than pure speculation and rumour, which is rife at this time of the year. Most of it comes to nothing, and I try not to take any notice of it...

As I journalist I was trained to report the news, i.e. actual events not twitter-based stories from people 'in the know', and I would expect the same for the ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ.

Again, as mentioned about an auto-refresh would improve it a lot, but I expect this will be a service I look to regularly. Not all of us use Twitter (strange but true).
It's good to get little snippets about sports that I wouldn't normally look at. My attention is usually directed at the football, cricket pages, but its nice to be diverted elsewhere from time to time.
Also, could this direct us to any live commentaries taking place, and latest scores of current events.
On the whole, good idea though.

I'm pretty sure 99% of users with a ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ ID would prefer if you scrapped this waste of money and reopened 606.

great idea.. but 2 suggestions.. can you please add to RSS and so please can
get live updates as they appear. Also, you have to manually refresh the page.

You already have the code that you use on the football and cricket live pages that
refreshes the page automatically.

This looks to be a centralisation of of the entire ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ sport site. This presumably means that the service is being reduced to an 'update page'.

Maybe we can have some of the entries in English rather than:

"1106: A court has summed the Pakistan Cricket Board to appear on 26 July... "

Come on Stuart, this is slapdash. The standard of English on the ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ pages is really awful.

Best of luck... but please don't turn it into a part-news-part-speculation feed for football - that's what the Sky 'Sports' News channel is for. We don't need to hear about the issuing of 'come and get me pleas' or that anyone is set to do/poised for something dull.

To have someone manually writing this page is overkill. A simple RSS aggregator would achieve the same effect.

What I think this actually is, is the end of sport based feeds. Now SW19 is over there won't be sport specific feeds, eg transfer deadline day. Instead everything will be in this one place.

As pointed out above, if you're only interested in one sport, it will be harder to find.

Are we going to get the same lazy sports covered? Or is there a chance other sports wil be covered. The weekend gone was a full of great Motorsport - alas, none of it F1, so ignored by general media.

More Sky-ifying of the ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ. Why continue to dumb down the site for the hard of thinking?
If people want to know about what is happening (rather than what might happen or gossip) then they will visit the site as they do now and then look at the story.

Only a month ago the 606 forum was closed as a costcutting excercise.
Now this 'brand new' service is launched - which basically duplicates information available elsewhere on the ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ and from a myriad of other sources (Newsnow, for example)

I agree with previous comments about a) auto-refresh needs to be added, and b) ideally some form of filter to avoid reading about sports which have no interest to an individual.

Auto-refresh is first thing to add but the page is agonosingly dull and would benefit from some kind of multimedia input: Twitter updates on the right-hand side like you have for major events, Flickr photos if permitted, embedded audio and video when possible, colours like for cricket live text when there are different forms of updates, commentary from experts.

Here's a case in point.
"1223: The Daily Mail report that Chelsea winger Florent Malouda has dismissed reports he will be leaving the west London club this summer."

This is news that was on most sites as "paper talk & rumours" first thing in the morning and yet it gets an airing a 'new' news on the ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ 'rolling on-line news service' at 12.23 pm.

This should, at best, appear on the ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ football news & rumours section rather than being recycled to feign breaking news.

Having seen what's happening with this section, there is no validity whatever in adding this to the ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ sport site, unless of course there are going to be spectacular cuts to the current service and then this would all make sense.
Is this the case?

It is unfortunate what has happened to this once-great institution. Any bets on how long it is before it becomes completely like Sky?

Oh dear, we lost 606 so that things like this can be paid for?

Seems very unimpressive - if it was in a mobile app it may be interesting but the idea of a one stop place for sports news on a web page like this seems very behind the times and not a great deal of added value - it's like a ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ sport amalgamated twitter feed, but without the flexibility of access that Twitter offers. I was excited at the idea, but very disappointed with the reality.

As so many have said - it needs auto-refresh. Also, the scrolling section should start at the top of the page so you can see the latest additions first rather than having to scroll down the page

I don't want to blow my own trumpet, but no one else will do it for me so here goes. My idea is incredibly straightforward. I'd like a ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ Sport app across all platforms (not just iPad) that works in a similar way to the very good ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ News app I have on my iPod touch/iPhone (This could be extended for PC and Mac later)

I decide when I have the time to refresh it, I can show at the top of the screen the news topics (in this case sports) I'm interested in, and if I want to explore other news/sports, they are on drop down lists further down the page. How hard would it be to use the same template (cost saving), change the colours to ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ Sport Yellow and put sports news on there. I don't mind if it has links to other pages (Mail, Express, Sun etc) I just won't use them.

I don't know what is available on Android and other platforms because I don't use them. If you have an iPhone or iPod touch I would highly recommend you download the free ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ news app just so you can see what I mean. I want the same but with sports news, Come on ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ, I'd download it and I'm sure I'm not the only one.

You may not currently use Twitter, but this is PRECISELY the purpose of it! I follow a few "reputable" sports journalists, who cover a range of sports, and they provide brilliant coverage with these little snippets you'd like to read...

On a positive note this will be good for the Olympics and busy transfer days.

But as it seems that the ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ is reducing its scope of sports covered (in depth) I'm not exactly sure how many days outside of these windows will provide the necessary frenetic multi-sports action?

Call me old fashioned but I just flick through the sports I'm interested in on a regular basis.

It'd be nice if we knew what sport was being reported about without having to read all of the text.

What is result of the government's huge investment in the Lawn Tennis Association at GB international tennis level? When answering please don't even think about including Murray or Henman or Watson or Broady whose families supported them-ditto most of the top UK women. Also why are key staff leaving the LTA and how is Roger Draper still in post?

Is there any need for this? Most people know how to get news and if there is any issue with focussing on actual news, then it would be best to get rid of stories that simply perpetuate rumours rather than present actual news.

We know what the news is, we just want to chat about it. Therefore, stop messing about and bring back 606! Please. :-)

That could be about anything. If you're not interested in football then you should be able to cut it out.

What happened to rolling text commentary on the Tour de France? I suppose that it's not Premier League football or Formula One...

I note this chance to comment has been removed pretty quickly from the "Rolloing News Page". Did the link vanish due to the less than positive response or was there another reason?

Stuart are you able/willing to answer any of the comments which raised serious questions as to the reasons behind the introduction of the SKY Sports like gossip page? I'm sure those of us who took time to comment would appreciate your thoughts on our concerns. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for wasting more of my licence fee ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ. I just want concise sports coverage, not gimmicks.

While I agree with the majority that 606 was miles better than anything that has been offered since scrapping it (including this), I would say that if this SPORTSDAY thing is here to stay then you could at least put a small coloured bar before each update with the name of the sport it belongs to.

As I write this it is dawning on me how amazing it is that you didn't think of how you could allow users to quickly identify news relating to their their preferred sports. It is telling, I think, of the mentality of the team that comes up with these things.

As a lover of allsports and renowned for my obscure sporting knowledge (mainly of the scottish womens commenwealth games curling team) this is a fantastic service. I'm usually loyal to the beeb, but when sky sports news went on to sky (what a silly idea) I was devestated. This will more than make up for it although i think we could still do with 606 back!

This. If the Tour de France Live page has disappeared on the day that this has been introduced then that naturally leads me to worry about the Cricket/Tennis/Formula One Live commentary pages as well. I would worry about the football ones as well but they surely wouldn't get rid of those....

Also, it is good having this as something that takes no effort in the background, but maybe a touch more interactivity like the other live texts would be nice

So the day Sky Sports News changes with a new look, the ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ try this new Sportsday live but I wont be looking on it, after looking at it today, all you have is a clip of Ashley Cole meaning that anyone who Supports a team outside the Prem League wont be catered, it will be filled with Football Stories that have no relevance to the Sport.

I thought the ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ were saving Money? Plus, I would rather keep F1 and the Tennis on the TV instead of funding this, thats what Sky Sports News is for!

Is this like Sky Sports News ? No . It is the news of what Sky has coverage of . I recall they made bigger news of Rochdale football than the Rugby WC Final years back . Publically funded Beeb needn't do that

It suits me as a sportS lover - ie multi sports . Which many of us are even if we gravitate to a specific sport

But please do auto refresh . Means I can have it on background at work permanently !

Twitter does not have to be used to keep up with celeb gossip, or even to post meaningless, inane comments about oneself. My primary use of it is to keep up to speed with sports news. Also - "where I live its not that common" - what does this mean? You make it sound like a rare breed of squirrel; "Have you seen any Twitter recently? No? Neither have I. *sigh* We don't see much Twitter in these parts nowadays..." I'm not sure you've fully grasped the concept of the "World Wide Web"... Twitter is on the internet, and thus is worldwide. Very few of my friends are on twitter, so for me it's not a social tool, but a news outlet just like the ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ Sport website.

And here in a nut shell exactly what is wrong with this rolling news page. A combination of a diluted, dumbed down, slovenly attempt to avoid in investing in a good ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ Sport website:

Are we supposed to guess which world championships or didnt the journalist responsible know? Is this really the vertical drop in standards and direction that we should expect? Was 606 really ditched for this absolute dross?

I was at the FIFA Women's Football World Cup game last night in Augsburg, England V Japan. Our women played very well and achieved a 2-0 win taking them into the Quarter- Finals. Once again I turn on the news or look at the ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ Internet site to see virtually no coverage of the game or the World Cup. Instead the main headline is about a Man United transfer? The fitness of those women could put some of our male footballers to shame!! Come on ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ support our players especially when England is having some success for a change. Incidentally in true style Germany is advertising it's win everywhere in the media - can we do the same for our girls please?

On our squad profile for QPR you have Dusko Tosic listed and he left over a year ago!!!! One or two more on here no longer at the club. Who does your research?
