Since one lot of voters voted Labour till they were well enough off to vote Tory and another lot voted Tory for individual responsiblity until they needed bailing out the parties have had to dodge like boxers to impress a fickle populace and since 'reality' TV and mass celebrity creation and intense PR the line btween truth and fiction is all over the place. It's all very puzzling - and wearing.

How many more peole are going to be taken onto the public payroll in order to shore up this discredited administration?

Obi-Wan Kenobi had a look at the role but even he decided it was beyond the Force to keep Gordon in power longer than 10 months!

Brown needs to do something but its not getting a new PR person. I now find myself feeling physically ill when I see, and more particularly, hear him on TV. I don't think he even believes what he is saying - he's just going through the motions before the inevitable loss at the next election. He's just going to spend his time making things more difficult for the next government. He can talk but doesn't know how to implement anything properly - a case in point is the mortgate relief scheme which was trumpeted last year and recently only 2 people had actually 'benefited' from it and less than 100 more were going through the hoops - I wonder why. Perhaps its like the small business loan guarantee scheme which is another very complicated and unattractive scheme for businesses and banks to implement. I understand the need to be careful with public money as Brown has watsed so much in the past 12 years but making schemes aimed at helping those with a genuine need impossible to administer is pointless.
He needs a PR miracle.

One look at the CV of Lewis will tell you all you need to know. He's a bureaucrat, with very little hands-on experience, and what he has is old-school PR. I doubt he even knows what Facebook or Twitter is. Not that these social networking tools define PR, but since Brown has demonstrated his total inability to relate to anything other than command and control PR methods, maybe if Lewis is appointed he's just going to be there to reinforce Brown's incompetence.
