Struggle for socialists

Looks like the wee parties are getting squeezed out on the list.

John Swinburne of the Scottish Senior Citizens Unity Party reckons it's looking tough for him at least.

But he says "hope springs eternal".

If he loses, he's off to his caravan.

Re the others, the two Socialist parties (SSP and Solidarity) seem to be struggling.

The Greens could slip back from their present seven seats.

Instead of blaming Tommy maybe he should look at the results their leaders managed to get after removing their biggest liability. Beaten by Scargill's mob and the BNP.

This election was a real clash of the Titans and in 4 years time the SSP, Greens and no doubt some single issue parties will be knocking the door of the list. It's a little disheartening to hear Tommy continually go on about 'backstabbers' and no matter how embittered they are right now, socialism in Scotland, especially West Central Scotland is a real gut feeling for a lot of people. They have their first councillor and hopefully some kind of union between socialists would be a sign of well, er, um....socialism!
