SNP falling short?

For now, of course, we're only getting constituencies.

And it looks - maybe, perhaps - as if the SNP may fall short of their ambition of taking 20 new seats.

However, gossip - and it is just that at this stage - suggests that the SNP may be performing well on the top-up regional list by contrast with 2003 where they slumped badly in this section.

Long way to go.

Even if we don't list the number of spoilt papers we should at least include them in the total turnout.

I cast my vote in Orkney and thought all the forms, posters were very clear and concise, so I can't understand why so many papers have been rejected.

I also thought the STV system was much superior than just a simple 'X'. It's a pity STV couldn't be used for all the ballot papers as it gives just that little bit more empowerment to voters.

PS: Would the braces be put it in the 'rejected' pile?

There was no SSP candidate in Dundee East last time because they agreed to support the then Labour candidate, John McAllion. Clearly these voters have moved to the SNP as the Labour candidate is not to their liking.

That's the point I think (Please correct me if I'm wrong Brian!) - The votes that went to the SSP last time seem to now be going to the SNP as there aren't as many SSP candiates this time.

Lucy, the SSP aren't standing in constitiencies and their votes seem to be going directly to the SNP in the main. It will be interesting to see what happens in the list vote with the SSP and Solidarity both standing.
