We were a "little bit more" Welsh today on the show today...

Chris Evans | 11:14 UK time, Wednesday, 12 October 2011

...thanks to our Welsh Polka along with brilliant Bryn Williams and his mouthwatering Welsh goodies.

Tomorrow, we are going "even more" Welsh before we actually become totally Welsh on Friday ahead of the big Rugby World Cup semi-final weekend.

In other news, I've got a meeting with the lady who runs my pub about next summer's Children In Need event. It'll be here before we know it. Good to be busy!

Hi Chris: awww, I missed that! I will try to listen again. And, yes, next summer will be here before we know it - could we skip winter this year? That would suit me just fine! xx

Hi everyone else ... if there is anyone there!

    Bore Da!

I was going to keep a low profile as I've not been sleeping due to side effects from steroids & antiobiotics. I thought rather than risk talking nonsense better to say nothing at all.

Anyway, I was finally in a deep sleep this morning when I was suddenly awoken by the sound of scaffolding being erected around my abode. There are now workmen everywhere and my roof is shortly to be removed. What fun!

    There's Welsh!

    Hywl Fawr!

6 weeks to CIN!!! Woot well actually 6 weeks on Friday.

Had my flu vaccine yesterday and feel like death today - I thought it was supposed to make you feel better and inoculate you against getting the flu lol.

Chrissie - we can skip but can we still have the 18th November and Christmas? lol

MM - hope you feel better soon!!!

    Hello Chris and everyone

    Chrissie, I am here. xx

Marjie, hope you feel better soon. xx

Work is going well on the building site. I took yesterday afternoon off to get my hair done, it was lovely to sit down for a few hours and do nothing.

Hope you are all having a good day.

    Hi Hannah & CSN.

I had my flu vaccination a couple of weeks ago, didn't even notice it what with all the rest, there is an upside to everything.

I'm glad you're building site is going well CSN. Thankfully mine is all on the outside apart from them going into the loft.

I am feeling completely exhausted now to be honest after second course of steroids & antiobiotics and no proper sleep since 5th September when side effects started. Anyway off to GP again tomorrow.

    I'm here too!

Phones at work still not oprational, we've got them diverted to a mobile but it's a pain in the butt!

On Friday when I left work, I went round to ELH to dispose of my recycling in their recycling machine, while I was putting my stuff in someone stole my purse from my car, which of course I hadn't locked as I was only about 10ft away from it, bloody annoying, cancelled my cards etc. immediately and reported it to the police, but it's the inconvenience of it all, also my purse was a Christmas present from my Mum and Dad and was a R**ley one so quite expensive to replace.

Thank you Marjie, I will be glad when it is all finished, hopefully before Christmas.

You must be so exhausted, hope you get some proper sleep soon.

    csn. xx

  • Comment number 8.

Well, I tried to send a post, but it appears to have gone, apologies if it shows up while I am typing this again!

Maddy: sorry to hear of your sleep deprivation - it really is awful when this happens. Hope things get better soon.

Hannah: how silly of me - how could I forget about CiN and Christmas!

CSN: that's good you managed to get out for a while yesterday. xx

Gail: that is just horrible for you. What a low-life scumbag to steal your purse from your car. These opportunists are everywhere. What happened is such an invasion, but the worst thing is that your purse was a gift from your Mum and Dad - makes me seeth, it really does. xx

    C xx

  • Comment number 9.

Chrissie, I am just as angry at myself because there were 2 people putting their things in the machine before me and I did think they looked at bit dodgy, but I still didn't lock the car, they were the only people about and it had to be them, but I will be locking the car from now, regardless of how close I am to it!

  • Comment number 10.

Gail, so sorry to hear your news. xx

I agree with Chrissie, they are low life scumbags.

Thank you Chrissie, it was nice to get out. xx

    Afternoon each

Have to confess I didn't hear much of the show this morning - but I did hear the gorgeous Noah.

Dozy - how awful for you, as Chrissie says, they're scumbags. Was at the recycling myself this morning and, like you, didn't lock the car - I will in future.

Have been trying to find bus routes in Edinburgh for tomorrow. Got on to Lothian Buses website 3 times and each time it crashed my laptop. On the third occasion it took 20 mins to reboot, telling me it was checking 'orphaned files' - pardon????

Have phoned them and got my bus info from a very nice gentleman in Customer Service. Sezza - I've been lost in the t'interweb!!!!!

CSN - Happy Birthday to the little one for tomorrow. Nic's son is 9 tomorrow - he was 7 when I first met him and has changed so much in that short space of time.

Deevs, hope all goes well with CiN. I will be phoning. Last year I got Alex, hope I get one of our bloggers this year.

Just been watching the news and the young people recreating the Jarrow March - don't quite know what to say about it.

Man in the cupboard was telling me today that he's cancelling his Β£10 a month broadband for the winter. He needs to heat his one room and, possibly, eat. I don't have much money but I can't imagine how people can live on just over Β£50 a week.

I'll be doing what I can for him and those like him.

  • Comment number 23.

Annie - if (when!) you ring, you WILL get one of us bloggers as all 36 phone lines are being manned by bloggers this year! How cool is that!?!?!

So, just make sure you ring between 10am and 7pm and see who you get!

csn - leave it with me, but I really, really need all replies in one place (ie my email) as having responses and requests scattered all over FB, Twitter and text messages is just asking for problems!

Sadly Anie that's not down to us. We are there to take the pledges and requests, and any "back story". All of our papers then get regularly collected in and the R2 producers decide who gets a shout, who gets requests played etc.

It's a frantic but fun day. And very very rewarding.

    Hello everyone!

Loved the show this morning - Wales is so nice (apart from the time when Jasper-dog decided that he could fly and launched himself off the top of a tall wall-crossing. He was wrong). My little nephew said his first-ever word while on holiday in Wales. It was at Poppit Sands (Jasper's favourite beach) cafe. The word was "teacake". Bless him.

Thanks for sending the menu Deevs, looks FAB. Will get back to you asap. Am just in a bit of a bind as to what to do about accommodation as everywhere's so expensive and my car's got it's MOT at the end of this month. Am working on the parents for a lend. ;-) Fret not, we'll sort something. It's SOOO exciting; I'm glad my name's on the list!

Many happy returns to the birthday boys!

DozyM - I'm so sorry about your bag; that's a horrible thing to happen. x

    Hi Chris ,
I was enjoying listening to your show this morning and very pleased to hear you will be going totally Welsh by Friday - to contribute to this totally Welshness I'd love (as a Welsh Professional Photographer) to come in and take photographs of the pure Welshness of your show :-) The photographs could then possibly be used to auction (with your permission of course) for a Welsh Sport Academy (possibly rugby, my husband is a PE teacher in Swansea and also played rugby to a high standard so can recommend some good Welsh charities with a sporting theme), so a totally Welsh theme throughout  Following on from this I could then possibly persuade the Welsh Rugby Team to have photographs for charity. In fact I have some photographs I took of you playing golf in The Celtic Manor five years ago - I had just had my daughter so maybe the photographs are not as good as they could be but I'd love to show them to you. I would also looooooooooooove to make my husband jealous as he is a big fan and while reading It's Not What You Think and Memoirs of a Fruitcake often commented (in a Welsh accent of course) 'mind you this bloke has worked his socks off'! It would be great to come into your show on Friday morning and document the programme but of course I do understand you get lots of requests.
Can you let me know how I can send the photographs of you at The Celtic Manor (playing golf) – I do not want to copy them on this as you would probably like to approve them before they are displayed – but I can send you a password to view them online.

    Thanks Chris

Annie - I'm sorry to hear you're going through a rough patch. Keep smiling though honeybee, it won't always be like this. I kick-started my financial recovery by getting an IVA. It's been very, very tough, but I'm over halfway through now and I think it's one of the best decisions I made. PM me on Facecloth if you need a chat, OK?

CSN - sorry to hear that the builders are getting on Holly's whiskers. I still shudder when I recall having my kitchen and bathroom done. Wouldn't wish THOSE lads on anyone. How long to go now?

Maddy ,really lovely to see you and glad you're ok. Was beginning to wonder about you.

Crissie ,that leak is turning into a new kitchen as the floor has to come up we think ,got someone coming in the morning to assess the damage. Its been leaking for awhile and we never knew.

Hanna ,I had my flu jab the other and had a bit of a sniffle but ok.Apparently it takes ,so I was told 21 days to take affect.

CSN ,what ever are you having done for the workmen to be there all this time .I shall leave home if that happens here ,I shall go and move north of the border and house share with Annie.

Gail ,words fail me to how to describe those sort of people {{{hugs }}} think you need a couple of those.

Mtd , {{{hugs}}} for you too hun think you were needing some

Deev, will be getting in touch with you shortly in a professional basis now you're qualified as I didn't want a freebee.

Roo, Nice to see you too .how you doing .?? must try and arrange something before the end of the year ,after the end of October as I'm booked solid.

Seeza,I'm still working and don't want to give up ,not yet anyway as I do like my independance ,it means a lot to me.and I do enjoy my job and I love the people I work for ,couldn't have better . But I do and can understand how you're feeling. Chin up chuck..

MTF - will look at your tree pix. 2000 years old?! Those trees were alive when Jesus Christ (according to the Gospels and Tacitus) walked the Earth. Blimey. That's the sort of thing I love.

No matter HOW mad the world in general and life in particular gets - the trees keep on growing, the birds keep on singing, and the rivers keep on flowing. Long may that continue.*

CLP - Most interesting yer going totally welsh on Fridee... Does this mean yer will speaking welsh then????
As totally welsh must mean totally welsh... Which means language too!!!!!!!!!!

Unfortunately a can only speak thai, russian & scouse.... The only welsh a now, sorry know, is 'araf'!!!!!!!!!

As ave seen it writted on the road many a time!!!!!!!!

    It means 'slow'!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Although a do also remember a sign that means 'No Parking' that made me chuckle!!!!!!!!
It read 'Dim Parcio'.... Which basically means.... 'Dim Parking'.... Yer 'Dim' aka a stupid fool with no brain cells if yer park 'ere.... Aka yer 'DIM'

This sign always makes me chuckle everytime a see it at a supermarket a deliver to in Wales!!!!!!!!

Seriously 'ave the welsh taken bits of english & giggled it around ter make up there own words!!!!!!

What am trying ter say.... Is does 'dim parcio' really come from 'dim parking'/ 'stupid parking!!!!!'

    ALL the above 100% TRUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't believe us ask The Alex Jones or The Lynn Bowles what is 'no parking' in welsh!!!!!!

  • Comment number 64.

The other thing that makes me chuckle that ave seen on me travels.... The town of Wrexham in welsh is Wrecsam!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This ter me is blatant just trying ter make the word different from english just for the sake of.... errrr.... Making it different!!!!!!!!!
Even though really it's the same!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Am sure me welsh grandad would agree!!!!!!!!!!!!!Me fingers are getting carried away now... before am 'ere all night.... a better go!!!!!!

MTF - A think yer probably correct on Wrexham was Wrecsam before it was Wrexham.... Maybe it was changed by the PC brigade as it was determined ter be too violent sounding... Wrecsam... meaning 'wreck' 'Sam'..... My only question is/ was Sam a man or a woman????????

In which case it could be a possible form of wife beating.... VERY offensive 'ence now wonder they changed Wrecsam ter Wrexham - know what am sayin'!!!!!!!!

Or it could just be named after a drunk called Sam who was wrecked due to enjoying too much drink!!!!!!!!

Talkin' of which a don't know what the welsh drink?????

We all know Irish is Guiness, Scots whiskey dram.... And the english alcopops!!!!!!!!!

So what do the welsh drink!!!!!!!!!!??????

Soz MTF got carried away... just trying ter say a think yer most correct!!!!!!

The man in action 'ere.... A 'ope am like this a 65plus (Ave gotta little feeling a might be, not that am being egotistical but a can just feel it that as am getting older am becoming more of a ladies man, whereas when a was at school.... A wasn't!!!!!!) (weird that - lads who get all the girls at school seem not too in later life... Whereas the ones who didn't... err do!!!!!!) (And ave also noticed ugly kids end up good looking adults whereas goodlooking kids end up ugly adults.... Ave just noticed this all.... The mysteries of life blog friends)

    Morning everyone

Loving the Welshness but do wonder if the shoe was on the other foot would the Welsh nation be so gracious towards us, doesnt stop us enjoying it though.

Bingo think the answer is Toffee Vodka, only because I know that a certain brand is made in Wales but then again think you might find it is a drinks brand that can be described as little grey matter.

Dozymac so sorry to hear about your purse being stolen by those scumbags.

I shall be ringing in on CIN too so can you give me a shout in the call centre when you hear that cockneybird has pledged please.

Off for a curry tonight to celebrate hubbies mates birthday looking forward to no cooking or washing up.

Rumour is that tempretures may drop next week, brace yourselves every brrrrrr!

    Have a good day

    CB xx
