So how can a lowly old Monday follow a weekend like the one we just had? How about

...lunch with the great Marco Pierre White!

Been back in the office for five mins. Mission accomplished. Mission being to secure the appearance of said "God of all Chefs" MPW on tomorrow night's show.

He is coming in for one hour during which we will ask him as many questions, from you, about food as we can. The man who when asked to describe himself in three words pronounced, "council house toff," will be there at your disposal live on the radio. I have known him for years, his energy is amazing, his philosophies simple and to the point, and his loyalty unerring.

What a treat, what a dream, what a breeze. Shoot I love this job.

Weekend was a gong for the new car, you know the black one, "Peoples' Choice" at The Salon Prive and another top notch honour for a little belter of a beaute at the annual FOC concourse held in Warwickshire. Great day out for everyone and you don't have to own a prancing horse to come along. Sure we nearly got blown away but hey there are worse ways to go. There were literally hundreds of Enzo's very best there to look at, long after and learn about. I learnt loads! So did my wife!!!!

The award was best in class for our white Ferrari 246 Dino, just about prepped in time by Nick Cartwright and his boys from their magic shop up in sunny Matlock. They have the trophy, they deserved it.

Lewis, yes, yes, yes. Thank heaven. I'm interviewing him at Goodwood on Sunday and now I can ask him a load of positive stuff as opposed to, "So, er Lewis..."

No need to talk about the tennis, we will be doing loads of that tonight on the air.

CLP.

Mange Tout. MPW!!!! You lucky ole so-and-so!!

As said on previous blog: he looks like the kind of fella that would eat you raw for dinner and devil you in the morn for breakfast.

Wow!!! Shall be glued to radio. Literally.

    Much love

    Cheryl The Diva x x x

    PS: If you need a tea-lady for the afternoon ...... ! ! !

  • Comment number 2.

I absolutely adore MPW - he is dynamic, passionate, sexy, intelligent, caring, loyal, honest to himself and others,...

I could go on and on and on...

One of my heros and one of the guests at my end-of-time dinner party.

You may love this job, but we definitely love the results. Thanks to you too.

Jen - I'm so glad you find MPW "sexy". whenever I mention that to female friends they appear to think I should be sectioned.

Now, pass the mustard if you please ....

    Buenos Dias one and all

Luncheon with MPW, beats a can of beans on the hoof anyday.

I hear from the programme that MPW is hosting a meal for 50 lucky viewers in Southampton so what do I have to do to gate crash! I can do silver service and carry three plates while walking backwards.

I am sure you would have a fight on your hands from Sally Traffic if you were to go in as the tea lady for the afternoon and i am sure MPW would have fun watching you both lovely ladies fighting over him!!!

in a mudbath, wickerman, in a mudbath.

i think i'd have the edge tho: i too see fluffy animals as potential portions and have a lovely curvy real woman belly - just as described by mr mpw on his programme last weds eve.

    Afternoon all,
Well I got soaked yesterday morning, rode an epic race, broke away from the field with 3 of the 4 laps remaining, absolutely not knowing what I was going to do. Ended up getting 2mins on the bunch. Only to be caught 400m from the line by a group of 4 who had got away in the last lap. Got 5th place for all my efforts and was gutted for missing out on my first ever win....not that you needed to know that, just thought i'd share.

The new job is going well, in fact i'm really happy with it. I know it's the honeymoon period but who knows, this maybe the right move for me afterall. Who thought Internal Control could be so interesting!

    TTFN
p.s. Chris could you get Capt Young to give me a call, he's bloomin useless at keeping in touch!

  • Comment number 11.

My goodness, so much to catch up on in only 16 hours!! CLP - Marco Pierre White, how cool is that???? I shall be glued to the radio (jen, CtD, can I come along with you to Auntie's place?).

MfR - any word on the job yet?

    Bingo - ooooh, please tell!!

Tinsel - welcome back hon, glad you're getting settled and loving the new home.

CtD - I'd love a spa weekend, even with people I'm not keen on! As you say, a book can do wonders...

Keith, how did you get on yesterday?

And now for my big news - I PASSED MY DRIVING TEST THIS MORNING, WOO HOO!! Sorry for shouting, am very very excited. Dad has already put down the deposit for my new car, but I have to wait until the end of the month to get it. Did I mention how excited I am???

AF (exhausted, with big smiles) xx

  • Comment number 12.

ps Rusty, well done, even 5th is an achievement, and you've got something to aim for next time I guess. Glad the new job is going well, although I don't even know what Internal Control is, never mind whether it's interesting or not!!

ooh - so, MPW tomorrow, whats that about? I hope resident Nigie didnt get the tin-tack for the mention of doing that 'dance' in the phonebox the other week? I bet that gets BPd.

Hmm dont find MPW sexy as such - I get the 'men who do food' thing, but MPW, he has cruel cold eyes - look at them. brrrr

so I *brightly* need to hope for a traffic jam so I get to hear the whole thing.

But Coco - if I were you Id think long and hard about putting on a little black waiting staff outfit and hanging about for an hour or so beforehand - you never know!

Congrats CLP on the prizes for the motors

    Mange Tout!

    Hi all,

Cars schmars. How come all the women on woman's minute drive sexy top-down numbers with loads of letters after them? I've got a clapped out escort currently customised with dried-on bird poo and lined with starburst wrappers.
Missed second half of ARF last week because I was hiding in the bathroom from my ex-mother-in-law, even though she was only on the phone. She’s really sweet and everything but she can’t half talk and I didn’t want to miss the show, so when I heard Elder Teenage Daughter answer the phone while I was in the loo I quickly started running the bath (I knew she’d say β€œOh here’s Mum” when she saw me). Anyway, 45 minutes later I was a shrivelled prune and she was still going. So I missed the D spot and everything!

Beesmum (from the other day), - I am indeed a part time teacher (well, not quite full time), only music though these days for local authority. Escaped from main-stream chalkface 2 years ago, partner still full-time Y6 teacher, don’t get me started…..!

Realised today have exactly 3 weeks to achieve perfect beach-bod for Italy (starting somewhat from scratch) so spent half an hour on exercise bike this afternoon, tedium relieved by watching the finely honed, er, acting skills of Jonathan Rhys Meyers in an episode of the Tudors on DVD. Also trying Chris’s Plank thing, but not sure I’m doing it right.

    Blooming rain.

Pleased your lunch went well, I'll enjoy listening and learning tomorrow evening while driving home from York. Quite a few years ago while on a trip to London, I ate at The Canteen at Chelsea Harbour. Alas I had come down with the most awful bout of cold and could hardly taste a thing. The one flavour which has remained with me though was the splendiforous Lemon Tarte - it was to die for - if only my taste buds had been up to the rest of the meal. Boy can that boy cook!! He could only be from Yorkshire (the best men usually are!).

    Love, Jane xx

I find beans on the hoof infinitely preferable to beans on toast...but that maybe just me...with worcestershire sauce ideally.

Apologies missing in action last week, v poorly, then compounded by nightmare trip to Doctor...first time I have ever heard a Doctor use the b*11*cks word...and being a Laydee and all...a tad shocking...forchunettely he was sweating more than I was, so that was ok...

Speaking of Doctor. HOW FANTASTIC WAS DOCTOR WHO I CRIED MY EYES OUT AND BILLY AND CATHERINE WERE JUST TOO FAB FOR WORDS so I ain't gonna say any more...but that made for my fab weekend.

Christophe, you are one lucky boy, and it's lovely that you appreciate it too! Very well done on your prizes! My, but it was windy yesterday...

Please give our Marco my best...I have no questions, and like tout les autres, I think he's GAWJUS.

    keep up the good work

By the way folks: Remember the book Round Ireland with a Fridge by Tony Hawks? What a lovely man. I emailed him the other day and he replied immediately! His house in France is free for people who need a holiday and can't afford it (like Carers, etc).

Please buy his books - he is a really caring person and trying to do something for those less well-off than him.

So different from Jools Holland, who has a Jazz House in Edinburgh which is never open. I emailed him last year to tell him his staff were crap and am still waiting for a reply.

  • Comment number 66.

Boleyngirl: I'm quite happy to be Annie. Have been so bored with Anne all my life. I could be Laurielee, Daisy, Rosie, Pixie, etc. Named my daughter Lucy so she could be a little bit different. Named my boys strong Scottish names - Ian, Stuart. What does that say about me??

    Anne (aka Annie) xxxx

  • Comment number 67.

Hey Annie, one or two people actually call me Annie, but mostly Anne. My brother used to call me Anne the Pan, I hated it. I named my girls Jessica and Naomi! Not sure about the strong Scottish influence - are you a Braveheart fan? Or, maybe, perhaps, Scottish?

Just dipping in and out of blog; mainly because spend so much time haranguing daughters to spend less time on msn/myspace/doggysnaps that I don't want to be caught out. Off in a minute for family viewing time - Lead Balloon I think.

    Annegirl xxx

  • Comment number 68.

Definitely not a braveheart person. Scottish born, Geordie by preference - brought up there. My children are scottish born and bred!

    morning morning morning

It's still really quiet in here innit? I popped in last night but couldn't join in with the chat as Mr Diva was watching some awful film on Sky (300?) and I was banned from "tippy tapping" the keyboard!!

I had a major Diva-style hissy fit this morning tho. I fancied a bit of Door en route to work and couldn't find my Doors CD anywhere. Turned the house upside down. No CD.

Ladies: whatever you do, do not allow your man to "file" the CDs - you will never again find anything where you tihnk it should logically be!

So, I settled for The Cure and it was fab!! Now feel like curling up in an old black jumper and pushing my thumbs thru holes in the cuffs and being all morose and goth-like.

But, I've got work to do.

SuperBP - Mr Diva has snaffled all the "rock" CDs to his storage cabinet and I've got the remainder. Trouble is, 50% of the "rock" CDs are mine!!! Subsequently, all my old Queen stuff, Foo Fighters, Placebo etc etc are in "his" cabinet, whilst mine is full of compilation albums, Take That, Robbie, my goth collections, 80s pop, Roxy Music, Elvis Costello, Boomtown Rats, punky stuff etc etc.

And no, I'm not ashamed - I purchased them all after all!

  • Comment number 92.

Super bp, all the way down all the comments, and I'm loving 'tchsocsky'...although I prefer the prokofiev m'self...hope you find it.

Amongst the great lost cds I've had a fair few 'appropriated' (or should I say MISappropriated) by so-called friends because I don't lend them out. Much screeching and crashing ensues (right up there witcha CtD...) and I've still never 'found' 'em either. Wouldn't mind so much but these people have been GUESTS in the Sett!!!

Anyhoo, am now rather pleased with self as have just managed to use the word 'permutations' not only once, but TWICE in the same five minutes, to different people no less...

beesmum, tinsel, phoenix, the ever-decreasing Keith, Lord Dissing, MfR, the Gabster, jillygoat...susans, cococococo, oh and everyone...all the Ems...all the Anne/ie/s...

    and now I have piles
so better shoot off and look bizzie with the fizzie

Rafa's arms, Fed's btm, and if I had Brad Pitt in the room as well, I'd consider myself a VERY LUCKY GAL!

    oho yersssss

Jen, I watched it again on Sunday too...and it's repeated again on Thursday I think...such good telly...such good acting...and so terribly sad in a not really happy way...he'll never get to know what happens to the other doctor...

    ...or will he?

The Master never quite went either diddee...merember the ring...and where did the Doctor's daughter go???

So many questions, so little time...

And the Christmas episode? Can't wait. This is not just Doctor Who...this is Marks and Spencers Doctor Who...

This is not just food, this is MARCO PIERRE WHITE.

    It's all go innit!

H/L - laughing out loud in the office "I'm loving it..."

Not sure Donna's input is finished either - there was a BIG focus on her ring when the Doc said his goodbyes - maybe linked to the Master's ring. I never got to see the Daughter episode - methinks I may watch it tonight in t'office after work (being as how I have no t'internet at home).

And as to sett-visitors misappropriation, don't I just know exactly what you mean! Mouldy ole dough single - pooof, gone.
Making plans for Nigel - pooof, gone.
Surviving on milk n'alcohol - poooof, gone.
All Mod Cons (signed by all my dorm mates) - ditto, poooof, gone

And some of my favouritest cardies...

How can some people continue to look in the mirror?

PHWOAR .......... Tinsel comes roaring in, tongue hanging out at the thought of MPW ... remember when he did that celeb kitchen thingy, he was brill and they all fell in love with him!! He's a bit of a rufty tufty bloke - just my type (along with gorgeous Gordon of course!)!!!

Debbie, lovely to see you too :-)) Hope you're enjoying BB as much as I am! Loved it when Rebecca drew on Dale's face last night - and when Luke got fake-tanned. HIWAAAAAAAAWIOUS!

Round Ireland with a Fridge - a brilliant book. I defy anyone not to enjoy it. I love Tony Hawks, he's so funny. (He's got a lovely hairy chest too.)

Morning all. Really am not into cars at all and Top Gear? Cannot stand the b****y thing.

CtD - glad your spa day went better than my hen do. Luckily, we didn't have to wear deeley-boppers although the bride-to-be was in a ghastly, 80's style veil. Bless her.

What are the silly baby names? Please tell. I always read the Births section in the local rag for a giggle. Do you know Chardonnay is featured in the top 100 most popular baby girl names list?

Congrats to the new house peeps (jumpingbean and tinsel) and to AF (for being able to tear up the roads and those L-plates).

Phoenix - good luck with the interview. Let us know how you get on.

Debbie - long time no see! x

Mr P is away in London until Friday, which sucks but on the plus side, I can enjoy a Hugh Grant movie marathon without him tutting and eye rolling in the background.

    Every cloud and all that...
