MORNNG RAT FANS.

Chris Evans | 08:22 UK time, Thursday, 1 February 2007

Went to Foxy鈥檚 last night for dinner and had a great time.

She has a new swish flat, all designed and everything. Maximum space, minimum fuss. Pragmatically stylish, like the girl herself.

On the menu鈥

(after Thomasso, baby fox number one, had turned in for the night.)

鈥β槎乖寂 made ravioli from Mr. Fox, who was using an Italian cook book, in Italian, how cool is that ? This was followed by pheasant casserole and then ice cream and hot chocolate sauce.

It鈥檚 a fact, the less you go out, the more you enjoy it. I haven鈥檛 been out for ages and what a good time I had. I was really in the mood for it right from the off.

Foxy and Freddie鈥檚 friends were energetic and interesting, sure we had all the predictable dinner party conversations, we even talked about the fact that this was what was happening but we didn鈥檛 care, we were all happy in her own skin and just shooting the breeze in the middle of another wonderful week.

It鈥檚 nice when people prepare their homes and make some good food for the other human beings to come round and take pleasure in.

I could have stayed all night.

Here鈥檚 to the Foxes.

Salute x.

    Hi Chris (and everyone)

Oooooh, impressive - very early this morning!

Dinner parties - love attending them, hate hosting them. Costs a fortune for food, drink and all the extras (that are never eaten), you have to clean the house from top to bottom (including behind the fridge because it's guaranteed someone will drop their car keys there!) and then you cook for what seems like hours and it's scoffed in 30 minutes!

Sorry to be a killjoy! Glad you enjoyed your evening. Listened to the show last night - Marguerite was just wonderful. What a fantastic lady, I'm off to buy one of her books for the next dinner party I will loathe having!

    Love,

Morning CLP and all on the blogmunity - happy Thermodore Thursday!

Your dinner party at Foxy's sounded fab - I love entertaining and get great pleasure from the challenge of what to serve guests. My signature dish is lasagne - I challenge any chef to top my version of the classic italian dish. Simply served with a HUGE bowl of green salad, olives, and garlic bread. Hmmmmm .... getting mungry just thinking about it!

    Friday tomorrow - hurrah!

Will check back laters to catch up with everyone.

    Good morning Chris

Look at you all bright and early today!

It sounds as though you had a really good time, and a chance to forget whatever pressures you are under at the moment.

We had a friend over for dinner last night, and the boy did indeed cook italian, proper spaghetti bolognese, all from scratch...when I got home from work, the house smelled divine! Couldn't wait to get stuck in...

It all ended up being a bit of a late one, and although I made it to work on time, I'm only here in body...the rest of me is still in bed...

However, there is nothing like a delicious home-made, home-cooked meal to lift the spirits and we had a great time...

    Glad you did too!

What a lovely evening! I haven't entertained for ages, but love doing do!

I love food and sharing great food with great people has to be my favourite past time.

Had a lovely meal with A (other boyfriends are available!!!) the other night. I was really touched at the thought that had gone, not just into the meal, but in ensuring the table was laid beautifully and that the house was relaxing, with lovely mellow music playing.... Bliss!

I also love it when I'm with my family and we're all round the table, passing dishes to each other, two year old niece screaming for more calamari (yes, she really does love it!). It's my birthday soon, so my parents will insist they host a birthday dinner for me and I get to choose what's on the menu - Greek night, here we come!

Thirsty Thursday already - where does the week go???

So off we went, looking for a fish curry and a stiff Black Russian. Hurrah. (Finally found one sat in a corner under a duvet but he wasn't so much stiff as noisy, so only a partial success there.)

So. Can I post a word of advice. If you're thinking of joining the Tedfest bun-fight, bring your vest and some Fiery Jack. It's colder here than a penguin's chuff, and I'm just after shootin' a polar bear tryin' to get into me handbag for me Fisherman's Friends.

    Chris,
A couple of your posts/items this week have led me to the conclusion that it really is time that I cleared out our dining room. The room has been the clutter magnet since we moved into the house 8 years ago. We have decorated it (although never quite got all the finishing touches done) but have never got it to the stage of using it as a dining room. Sure, there is a dining table and chairs in there. But the table surface isn't visible! There's even stuff on some of the chair seats, tucked under the table so you can't see it.
So, some serious decluttering is called for. Followed by dinner parties where I can inflict my culinary passions on friends.
Anyone want to come to the first one?
I'll be doing the asparagus and rocket spaghetti as a starter.
Turkey breast with cranberry stuffing and marmalade glaze for the main course. With sweet potato mash and roast vegetables (an extra large portion of the asparagus and rocket spaghetti will be available as a main course for the veggies - I've still to think up the alternative starter for the veggies - suggestions welcome).
Dessert will be rasperries with creme fraiche.
Cheese and biscuits, naturally, with espresso's.

Now that the dreaded Tax Return deadline has gone, I'll start tonight...

There was a real buzz about this band, so we headed up to town and joined the queue on Wardour Street to get into the Marquee. Eventually we got in; being 1987 this would have probably cost a fiver, and shoved our way straight to the front. There must have been about 200 people there that night who witnessed a rather splendid, pre-egos and tantrums, Guns 鈥榥鈥 Roses.

They went on to sell a record or two; I had my hair cut short and became an accountant.

Hello all. Haven't got time to read all the comments but just wanted to say that the show last night was FAB Chris - it was lovely the way all the phone calls kept coming in - brilliant idea - and what a lovely lady M Patten is, and how lovely you were with her!! You really are a charmer!!! Only disappointment I had was that the lovely Gordon didn't call (or did he and I missed him????)

Lovely sounding dinner party - I had one last Sat - drank a bit too much red wine though, and woke up on Sunday wondering if I'd done anything embarrassing - only trouble of hosting rather than being a guest is that there's no limit on alcohol consumption!

    Happy Thirsty Thursday all!!

    Hi Chris and Co,
Dinner parties are the best! As a singleton it's important for me to fill my 3 bed house with good hearty vibes and ther's no better way of doing it than putting on a dinner party. I do it abot twice a month and in between often have other single find for dinner to fill the gaps. Pour moi, eating alone is a sad and lonely experience and I can never really enjoy food without company. It's a sharing thing. Besides, I haven't enjoyed a meal out as much as I enjoy a meal indoors with my homies in yonks. I'm always happy to meet new people too so quite often a stranger (to me) is at my table. Of course I trust my friends to bring only good characters and entertainers to my table!
This weekend I've got 10 for dinner and I'm doing indian food! It'll be my first time and I've promised 10 dishes!! Luckily I work with an Indian guy who cooks for his family every evening and is always talking food. I'll be getting a delivery of good fresh authentic Indian spices tomorrow. I was also lucky enough to ahve an opportunity to impress that director of a certain Indian beer and I had a case delivered to me for Christmas which is still in the garage intact as I'm a wine drinker. (I have it on good authority that Indian wine is something of a rarity and not least because it's rank)! xx

Roll on the weekend and keep the sun shining. Let's hope the Delhi Belly keeps wasy from my door!

    Hi again,

Kev C - T'ai Chi, I tried it a few years ago. Several of my good and well balanced frineds do it. Myself and my then lodger, Dawn went a long to a local Saturday morning class for ladies. The Master was a beautiful woman in her 50's. I could feel myself wind down just standing next to her.
I am a very energetic being. (I have been called Dynamo by my family since I was young). I exist on 6 hours sleep a night and people hate to be around me in the morning as I am so full of beans. It's quite unatural! Dawn is quite the opposite of me and as a then student spent all her non-college time in bed or on the couch. We were always shopping locally Sat mornings and one day spotted a T'ai Chi class in the local library. We went along the following week and did the class. We were home by 1 and Dawn literally Spring cleaned the house! I couldn't believe it! I'd never seen her expend so much energy. I collapsed on the floor in the lounge believing I was 'coming down with something' and didn't awake until 6 hours later! I'd slept through a house blitz including hoovering!
The class had been easy and full of lovely ladies and we were looking forward to the next session. The following week we returned home and Dawn sorted all her clothes and books and college notes and address book and PC files.....she went on and on. I went to bed at 2 and awoke......6 hours later and still did a full night's kip.
Week 3 I explained to the master how I had been the previous two weeks folloing her classes and yet Dawn had been energised. Was I doing it wrong? It turns out that we had both been doing exactly the right thing as the balancing 'Chi' process will balance out your energy. I was living on borrowed energy - no caffeine or other artificial stimulants I promise - just a lust for life! The T'ai Chi had addressed this imbalance and literally sent me to sleep after a training session to charge my batteries. Dawn on the other hand had not been using enough energy and so was energised by the session and felt full of beans! How unfair! I of course couldn't attend any more as I had so much to fit in on a Saturday I couldn't afford to give up 6 hours of it to sleep. A false economy of course but what could I do? I had places to be and faces to see. Three years later I still haven't returned although I vowed to as soon as I got a 'window'. Maybe that should happen soon before I burn out completely!

    Good luck with your class,

Had a rotten night last night - was going out for dinner with parents, mum was driving and as we approached a bend, a car came round the corner on our side of the road and hit us.

When the driver got out of his car, it became apparent that he was drunk.

While we waited for the Police to attend, the man got into his car and drove off.

THANKFULLY, we are all fine. No damage to us at all.

I am glad the sun is shining though, because it has helped to dilute my anger. My children were also in that car, which is the reason for my anger. They were understandably upset, but at least they're in one piece.

The Police arrested the man an hour or so later.

Thirsty Thursday didn't go quite as planned for us, so I'm going to make sure that Yippee Friday is a good one. Third date tonight peeps and a fourth planned for Sunday, my goodness me!!!

麻豆约拍1's "Five Days"? Wot's that all about? PS If you tapped it and haven't watched it yet STOP READING NOW. Here's how the final episode should've been...

"Wow what a last episode 鈥 so much happened and so much fell into place. Then right at the end the final twist that none of us were expecting, and although we鈥檇 had our suspicions about who鈥檇 done it we really weren鈥檛 expecting the reason why it was this person鈥

There were loads of side stories, like the paedophile who took the youngest daughter, the reporter鈥檚 story, the various police staff, the grand-parents, great granddad, the younger two children, etc 鈥 however from what I saw, the following seems to be the main salient points leading to the conclusion.

It was indeed the flower seller who had kidnapped the wife 鈥 Leanne. He had come over to England from Macedonia towards the end of the conflict and started the flower selling business near to where Matt 鈥 the black guy 鈥 and Leanne lived because he was plotting to kidnap Leanne. He was plotting the kidnap because he was intending to start a blackmail as retribution for the loss of his own wife who was killed in army crossfire in Macedonia during the conflict. Matt had been in that English army platoon that fired the bullets and had been led by Matt鈥檚 sergeant friend 鈥 Gary. However before putting his kidnap plan into place he was taken by surprise when Leanne turned up in the lay-by to buy the flowers from his van.

He decided to grasp his opportunity but just as he grabbed Leanne the big white van pulled up 鈥 blocking the view from the kids sitting in her car. The driver of the van was the guy who ran the kennels where Leanne and the children had earlier picked up the new dog. The dog-guy saw the struggle taking place and argued/shouted with the flower seller, however after a while he could see that the flower seller was taking no notice and as the flower seller was so big and intimidating, and the dog-guy was a bit timid, eventually the flower seller threw Leanne in the back of the flower van and the dog-guy drove off. The flower seller took only seconds pack up the rest of the van and pulled away straight after the dog-guy鈥檚 van had left.

The dog-guy was really shaken up and mixed up by the episode and had convinced himself that the reason Leanne had been found dead was because he had failed to intervene and he鈥檇 convinced himself that as a consequence he was responsible for her death 鈥 he felt that he had killed her. Later in the series he came forward to the police and being a bit simple and confused, the only thing he could say to the police was to keep repeating that he had killed her.

Meanwhile, earlier the police had tracked down the flower seller in the flower market after he鈥檇 imprisoned Leanne in a hut in the forest. But their inquiries didn鈥檛 lead to a conclusion worthy of pursuing. He was biding his time ready to start the blackmail.

The ex-husband was really still in love with Leanne and the eldest daughter had gone over to France to stay with him after Leanne had gone missing. Seeing how distraught the eldest daughter was, he started to become quite concerned himself. The eldest daughter persuaded him to come back to England to help find Leanne. On his return he used some inside contacts he had in the police to learn what they were thinking about the flower seller and followed the scent himself. He had more luck than the police and followed the flower seller to the hut in the woods where Leanne was being held hostage. She was tied and messed up but generally unharmed.

In the process of rescuing Leanne, while the ex-husband was fighting with the flower seller, Leanne hit and killed the flower seller by bashing his head in with a piece of wood. Since the ex-husband had been in trouble with the law earlier in life, he didn鈥檛 want to be associated with a killing and persuaded Leanne that they should bury the body in the woods. Leanne and the ex-husband continued to argue about this while covering over the body and during the argument it came out that getting back at Matt about the platoon killing his wife wasn鈥檛 the real reason the flower seller kidnapped Leanne. It was actually to get back at Gary 鈥 it turned out that she鈥檇 been having a long time affair with Gary. In fact during the argument, Leanne also told the ex-husband that the affair had started while she was married to him and in fact the eldest daughter was Gary鈥檚 love child. While the ex-husband was stunned by this revelation Leanne ran off leaving the ex-husband in the woods.

By now the ex-husband had had enough and returned to France 鈥 leaving behind of course, the eldest daughter who he now had no further interest in.

Meanwhile Leanne has run out of the woods very much alive. Where did she go? How was she killed and end up floating in the boat lake? And, who dunnit?
    - we all know it wasn鈥檛 Matt 鈥 cos he is just too nice a guy, and really loved her
    - it wasn鈥檛 the simple dog-guy 鈥 he was in the wrong place at the wrong time and just mixed up
    - it wasn鈥檛 the flower seller 鈥 because Leanne was still alive when he was killed
    - it wasn鈥檛 the ex-husband because Leanne had run off and he鈥檇 gone back to the France.

So now we get to Sarah, the black haired young lady who found the missing son in her garage. We always thought there was something strange about her and it turns out that she was truly weird. She was in fact Leanne鈥檚 twin sister separated at a young age. After tea one day when they were 4 years old, Sarah had gone upstairs to the toilet and saw their mother in bed with another man 鈥渄oing it鈥. At that same time her father who鈥檇 just arrived home from a business trip a day early also came into the bedroom. Leanne was downstairs watching TV. Sarah was very close to her father and seeing how distraught her father was, she grabbed the bedside lamp and smashed her mother over the head with it. The lover fled and her father grabbed her mother and tried to resuscitate her. There was blood everywhere, Sarah鈥檚 father couldn鈥檛 bring her back to life, and he hugged her desperately as he staggered around the room in his despair. To Sarah it looked like he was dragging her round the room.

Sarah was committed to a mental institution, and her father committed suicide soon after as he couldn鈥檛 cope with the horror and loss he鈥檇 witnessed that day. Leanne who knew nothing really of what had happened was adopted by Barbara and John Poole. In the institution Sarah blotted out most of her memory, including the fact that she had a twin sister, and she adopted a new name for herself. She was diagnosed as 鈥渞ecovered鈥 when she was 18 and released from the institution to commence a 鈥渘ormal鈥 life. In her early 20鈥檚 she stumbled across an internet site that revealed the trauma of her early life, her original name and that she had a twin sister.

Now, back to the present day, now in her early 30s, Sarah was a regular at the gym where Matt and Gary worked and she discovered that Leanne 鈥 who she realised was her long lost twin sister 鈥 was having the affair with Gary, was pregnant with is child, and Matt appeared to know nothing about what was going on. This was starting to bring back the memories of how she鈥檇 found her mother and her lover and the horror her father had experienced at finding them together in bed. The terrible act of murder she had committed and blocked out of her memory for all those years came flooding back and seeing history seemingly repeating itself with Leanne and Gary caused the hatred to well up inside her and she flipped. Before she could act however Leanne was reported missing and imagine her surprise when she found Matt鈥檚 young son hiding in her garage.

Later that day while in the gym working up a sweat on the jogging machine trying to run off the anger that still boiled inside her, Leanne came running in from the woods looking for Gary to save her. She was in a terrible state. Gary was out and they were all alone in the gym. Sarah鈥檚 emotion all erupted out and she confronted Leanne. In the ensuing struggle and in Sarah鈥檚 anger she hit Leanne in the face with a dumbbell and killed her outright.

After she鈥檇 dumped Leanne鈥檚 body in the lake, she set about befriending Matt and the rest of the family as she felt that everything would be rectified and her life would become whole by her becoming the perfect wife and mother to make up for the massive failings of her own mother and Leanne.

It was granddad that eventually triggered the police to find out the truth 鈥 it was something Sarah said to him one day when she visited him with Matt鈥檚 children in the old peoples home. He became suspicious of Sarah鈥檚 true identity and told the young reporter who via internet and record searches tracked down the truth and alerted the police. Meanwhile the relationship of Barbara and John Poole (Leanne鈥檚 adopted mum and dad) was coming under strain after Leanne鈥檚 body was discovered. He took an overdose and was taken into hospital. Sarah associated this with her own father鈥檚 suicide and blaming what seemed to her to be yet another wife causing heartbreak for her husband she broke into the Poole鈥檚 house late at night and was standing over Barbara with the bedside lamp held above her head ready to smash it down when the police broke in鈥"

Sorry it was a bit long. Once I'd started I couldn't finish :-)

    TTFN Philip.
