It might be the random ska bit that pops up from time to time but for me this song doesn't seem to fit together properly. There's the rapping bit, the (already mentioned) ska bit and the drum n bass bit at the end, normally this wouldn't be a problem (when done well it can be the best thing about a song) but in this song it doesn't all seem to work together. On their own those parts would be great but together they seem to clash a bit too much.

This is a class debut from Tinie . Thousands are gonna love it , and it sounds fantastic on the dancefloor.

I have been listening to Pass Out for the last 6 months , and waiting for it's release intently .

Your key point Kutox , is that it will be a massive CROSSOVER hit , as it fuses many different styles and fuses it with wonderful vocal deliveries , hypnotic dance elemements , and it will commercially appeal to thousands.
Yes this will be HUGE !!
Everything in this song , works perfectly , and in 2010 , the appeal factor for this track is immense . I can feel it !

This will be the second time Scunthorpe will feature in a top 20 hit , the first time being It's Grim Up North by Justified Ancients of Mu Mu . ( The Jamms ) or (The KLF ).

OK , just for you Kutox , I will narrow it down some more .

Using my ear for a pop hit , 7 days before next Sunday , I predict that Pass Out will be a top 5 hit !!

I agree with Spirit, Pass Out's a definate top 5 hit but I think that either Derulo or Rihanna will be no.1 next week.

Is it just me or does the guy who does the singy bit an absolute double of Jermaine Jackson?! Check it at 40 seconds, its rather uncanny...


The song is average at best, but apparently this doesn't mean anything anymore in chartland as a certain Miss Goulding is only at number 4 tonight despite her song knocking Rihanna's or Derulo's out of the water talent wise in my opinion, so therefore i agree with's spirits prediction. As it is often wise to do...

My prediction for this track? Number 1.

Its brilliant.

Apart from the obvious lyrical cleverness it's the crossoverness I love. Yes crossoverness is now a word. The ridiculous mix up of sounds shouldn't really work. I could be cynical and say it's just them trying to appeal to everybody. But it works so well I'm not going to complain!

In particular I love the way it just goes mental at the end.

Going back to our earlier point for a second... it's brilliant how the song manages to have huge commercial potential, while still sounding very 'underground' at the same time, if you know what I mean. Bringing this kind of music to a wider audience.

I am almost certain that for better or worse this song is going to be number 1 next week, continuing the trend of grime artists turning to pop music and making top ten hits. The song is not bad in itself, although I have heard much better and it does make me wonder how something with literally no hook can make it to the top five with such ease and how turned off by guitar music people now are. (Just have a look at where Muse have entered in this weeks top 40.) Then again I suppose we will see how this man fares in the long run, for now he's hot material but ten years down the line hip hop tends to lose its shine. We shall see...

George , the reason Muse have charted so lowly with The Resistance is that over a million people have the track already , in some guise . Their album sold over 150,000 copies in it's first week , for example .

Regarding the Tinie Tempah track , are you suggesting that it literally has no hook ?

To me it is hook laden , musically and lyrically , that's why thousands will buy it .

Muse releasing the wrong tracks from the album doesn't help matters (see previous rants).

The fact that the album sold A LOT means that normally by the third single people are either going to have the album or not. If not and they like the track, they will get it anyway.

Muse are more of an album band, I don't think they are too worried how their singles fare in the charts. They sell more albums than these hip hop and grime acts who get singles in the top 10, as George mentions.

Regarding Pass Out , there is a huge media buzz about this track , that is growing and growing . Add the intensive radio play , and I am sure you are looking at a top 3 hit on Sunday , and possibly higher . . .

Kutox's early prediction for a NUMBER 1 , may be proven right .

Actually , Jason Derulo's album is released this week , so his single IN MY HEAD will not be a threat , so I think PASS OUT , will be in the top 2 , and the FLOZZIE mash-up will diminish .
If I had to be a betting man , I would say number 1 for Pass Out .

Yeah I see what you mean about the Muse sales thing, however you must agree this song isn't the catchiest tune you have heard in the last week, I do however very much enjoy the lyrics, and have no doubt it will be number 1.

Number one! Well done Tinie! This song may not be the deepest lyrically but it's fun and catchy. I personally think the instrumental is ON POINT! IT sounds crazy in the club!

2 weeks at number 1 for Tinie , and he says the greatest thing about performing Pass Out live, is that the crowd always seem to know all the words and he doesn't need to sing or rap a single sound .

That is the mark of a song that has severely pricked the public's consciousness .

It's called FRISKY and will be released in early June .

Again it has a production credit to Labrinth , and sounds great on the dancefloor.
Some very risque lyrics but some very commercial possibilities.
It's another club banger .

Tinie Tempah brings music of the UK together, in terms of Hip Hop and the local genres of Grime, Garage and Dance. He really does offer something different because he is original. I believe that he can and will be in the UK music history books in future ! With three hit records of his first album and no major artist on hit album yet we are in for a treat in the future.

Yep, still love this song. One of the songs which 2010 will be remembered for, whether some people like it or not! Of all the 'grime-pop' chart hits of the last few years, this one stood out.

All of Tinie's singles are great, although Invincible is a bit meh.

This songs really grown on me, I think it's something to do with Tinie not taking himself seriously that makes me like him so much.

Yep. I remember when Frisky was first played on Zane's show, Tinie spoke on the phone to Zane and said "as you can probably tell, I'm having a lot of fun, and making music that doesn't have to sound any certain way". I just love his attutide - every time he speaks about his music, he really gets across his passion and enthusiasm - which is so important for any artist.

I know his lyrics aren't always the best, but he does have some really catchy lines, for example in Frisky the infamous 'would you risk it for a chocolate biscuit', it's so silly and meaningless, yet so clever at the same time! I find it impossible not to sing (or rap :P) along to it every time I hear it! Things like that are what make him stand out from the crowd.

Seriously, Tinie Tempah is almost a flawless artist, he's so clever and silly (in a good way, of course) with his songs, its unbelievable. My only complaint is that Wonderman (in the top 5 songs of last year for me) should have been his next single, instead of the meh-ish Invincible.
