Never Mind The Quality...Feel The Width

Post categories:

Fraser McAlpine | 09:26 UK time, Thursday, 2 July 2009

If you notice anything different about ChartBlog this week, do not panic, your monitor is not shrinking, nor are your eyes wandering off in different directions. We're stretching the blog out, making full use of the screen, and getting rid of that blank area down the right hand side, which I always used to use for shopping lists and doodles of Cheryl Cole on stilts*.

So, if everything looks different today, that is why. If it looks the same as always, it hasn't happened yet. And if you find you're reading a lot of stuff about sport or the news, and nothing about pop music, you're probably looking at the wrong blog.

Thank you for your time.

*actually, it ended up being Cheryl Cole on stilts, on a skateboard, on a man's head, on a car. It was a bit like a totem pole, only less true to life.

Wow, its all shiny and new, much better imho, well done Fraser (although I imagine in reality you had very little to do with the change in design, and its implementation)

Oh wow this is fantastic , oh it feels so good, these new colours , it's like a kinda bronzey gold right ?
I thought Fraser had been quiet , he has doing some interior design.
    I like it.
Fraser are you gonna come on in a new uniform , give us a guided tour , and show us how everything works ?

Now that I've taken some time to get used to the feel, I kind of like it. The only thing that bothers me is the jump when I click to read the rest of the post...I don't read the first part, I always just go through and click open into new tabs, so then I have to scroll up every time. My poor finger might get confused...it thinks it needs to go down when really I'll have to scroll up!
But now Chartblog has that new blog smell. ;) (and looks a little bit more like some of the other Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ blogs...intentional?)

    Hello,

This redesign is I think a good thing, does make better use of the space available and makes the blog fit in better with the other local associated webpages. Good work Fraser (or the programmer assigned)

    gah
I liked the space, it greeted me every time i went on chartblog like an old friend saying "look at me and my wastage of space and energy"

Plus I have to move my eyes too much with this new layout; I'm an internet person! I can't deal with this much exercise!

oh well, I'll get used to it. :)

Oh! but what i don't actually is the absence of the "recent posts" column - can you bring that back?

    and catman231 - hahahahahahahaaaaa :)

  • Comment number 9.

Electic Faith , I agree about the recent posts column , it's good to know who is blogging at that time.
Any chance of bringing it back ?

  • Comment number 10.

Fraser , lovin the new layout and apart from where is the next how to destroy , is there any chance of the latest contributors section which at present lists only yourself and Vicki , to list all the other bloggers so that we know who has been on recently ?
I mean what a line up this would be..
