Mika - 'Grace Kelly'
What? It's out on Monday! And between you and me, I think it might just be a hit, with a bit of luck...
Anyway, LOOK! It's the Jools Holland performance! Fancy!
Before we start, I think it’s safe to say that the theme for today will be colours.
Now that’s settled, WHY didn’t anyone think of this before? Darius was sort of getting there with the whole ‘Colourblind’ motif he had going on. But he decided to go down the meaningful, sentimental, slushy road. Which is nice, but doesn’t quite match the reaction of a colourful explosion like this is receiving.
This is simply THE victory march song of the moment really, isn’t it? With bright vocals as wide in range as a Dulux catalogue, and a build of camp “m³¾â€ and “a³ó†flounces, with a larger than life, bouncy chorus which goes up REALLYREALLY high, you can understand why.
In fact, you can almost picture Mika screaming “I am fabulous, all hail me!†in a gorgeous technicoloured vision at all times of the day and night, which must be tiring.
BUT, the problem with making such a big fat statement like that is you’re going to prompt some contrasting reactions. Some people will refuse to hail this self-proclaimed master of rainbows and make some pretty colourful, but darn rude gestures at the guy, whereas others will go get their Mika flag out and start waving crazily, demanding more flamboyance in their pop...and SOON, PLEASE.
Personally, I think I’d be one of the crazy people waving a flag, but all the while knowing this song and it's joyous vibrancy will probably get overplayed to the point where everyone may prefer to do something less friendly with the poles after a while…

I luv this song. I think he sounds like Freddie Mercury and is britains answer to the scissor sisters.
