Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ iPlayer wins Royal Television Society award
Last night, the hosted its . At the ceremony, our Controller of Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Online Seetha Kumar, collected the final award of the evening - the prestigious Judge's Award. The RTS tell me that they created this award to pick out "the greatest vision in determining how the media might develop in the future and how the wider community will relate to all aspects of communication - in effect, mapping out the way which others will follow".
Our team work incredibly hard to try and make iPlayer the very best of its kind. It's of course always exciting to receive awards recognising these high standards, but we're especially proud to be seen to be helping establish the future of TV. These efforts are already producing real results too - in the 12 months to September, monthly viewing inceased by 95% (to 44.5m requests). With this in mind, I'd like to extend my thanks and congratulations to everyone involved.
Watch this space for lots more innovative stuff in the year ahead!

So when can we expect the iPlayer to be compatible with, and play back 1080p50, as obviously that is how media will develop in the future.

I use the iPlayer a heck of a lot and know it to be the best format so far. There are other players out there from other broadcasters, but they're no-where near the standard of the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ iPlayer.
Simple, easy to use navigation, shortcuts to channels and categories, all help to get around and the layout is easy on the eye. No silly ads to clutter the view and a full screen for playback. What more could you want?
What about a playlist function. That would be very useful. Select the programs you want to watch from those available, add them to the playlist and play. That would be a nice function. I realise that this isn't the forum for that, but it's such a good request, I couldn't keep it locked up.
Otherwise, well done. You slammed the competition and to be honest, there's nothing else out there that comes close in my opinion.
