All the crew are feeling very hungover again today after a fourth night of heavy drinking and dancing at carnival. The Brazilians certainly know how to party, and I'm proud to say we’ve been holding our own and keeping up rather well. We’re in a small logging town called Benjamin Constant, on the border of Brazil, Peru and Columbia where they have a long-standing tradition of cross-dressing for carnival.
Whilst Bruce is evidently very practised and comfortable in women’s clothing after his time in the Royal Marines, for me it was my first time and I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed it! Determined not to miss out on the fun, and to blend in with the community, myself and the crew borrowed party frocks from the local girls and joined Bruce and an 80-strong gang of men, all in skimpy revealing outfits with the full complement of wigs, make-up, nail varnish, fishnets and high heels.

It was both strangely liberating and totally hilarious being surrounded by around 80 men, most of them either loggers or local businessmen of one kind or another, all swinging hips and handbags with tattoos and hairy chests poking out of their impressive fake cleavages. The fun was fuelled by a constant supply of Caipirinhias, a very strong Brazilian cocktail, which was literally drip-fed to us all night.
We were all given large plastic medical bottles with long plastic tubes that you keep sipping. We all danced and laughed all night and Bruce was welcomed on to the stage where he got the whole crowd cheering with a very funny and drunken speech.

After four nights in a row of partying, hangovers and hairs of the dog I think we’re all ready to move on, but we’ll be sad to say goodbye to the many friends and dancing partners we’ve met here. We’ve had such a warm welcome from the community, team spirit is riding very high, and it’s been a fantastic start to our trip.

IF BRUCE AND THE TEAM WERE TO COME UP TO NEWCASTLE ON A FRIDAY NIGHT IN ALL THIER GLAD RAGS THEY'D BE CLASSED AS THE LOOKERS!!!! CAN'T WAIT TO SEE ALL THIS SILLYNESS ON THE TV

I'd not really believe Rob saying that he's never cross-dressed before. I've seen him in stranger outfits before now.
I hope everything is going well out there, it's amazing seeing you up on the Â鶹ԼÅÄ screen, I was only visiting the site in order to download In Our Time, that's how exotic my life is.
