We are turning up the beat this week with a roster of music programmes including Asian Network’s first ever live festival, the Radio 2 Folk Awards, Sounds of the 80s and a Prince special. If sport’s your thing, the battle on the baize concludes this weekend at the Crucible.

Asian Network Live

Join Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Asian Network for their first ever Asian Network Live, from London's Eventim Apollo, Hammersmith.

Hosted by Tommy Sandhu, the event brings you the best in Asian music plus exclusive artist collaborations, with a star-studded line up including Naughty Boy, Imran Khan, Badshah featuring Aastha Gill, Fuse ODG, Kanika Kapoor, Zack Knight, Arjun, Jaz Dhami, Divine, Raxstar and many more.

The event will also feature Indian stars Badshah, Aastha Gill and Divine, who will be making their UK performance debuts.

Radio 2 Folk Awards

Watch highlights from the 17th annual celebration of folk and acoustic music, from the Royal Albert Hall in London.

Sounds of the 80s

Sara Cox is joined by Level 42’s Mark King reliving the years surrounding their 1985 album World Machine and Mark gets out his sparkly light-up bass to show Sara his classic slap-bass-style.  Also tune in for the Top 5 from this week in 1984 and videos including Wham!, Janet Jackson, Talking Heads and a tribute to Prince.

Sings Prince

With the recent passing of music superstar Prince and in recognition and celebration of his prolific song writing talent we’ve trawled the archives for a compilation of his performances.

Reminisce about hits such as … I Feel For You, plus many more.  As well as his own performances, we look back at some of Prince's songs as made famous by other artists, including Nothing Compares to U by Sinead O’Connor, Manic Monday by The Bangles and I Feel For You by Chaka Khan.
