Pipa Doubtfire is the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ’s head of revenue management, and leads the TV Licensing Management Unit, which is responsible for collection of the Licence Fee. Here she writes about the TV Licensing Annual Review, which is published today.

The TV Licensing Management Unit is a small team with a big responsibility, to bring in licence fee funding for Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ programmes and services. It’s our job to collect the fee as efficiently as we can, making it as simple as possible for our customers in the current challenging economic environment. Β

Everyone in the UK who watches or records TV programmes at the same time as they are shown on TV needs a licence, and there are currently over 25m TV Licences in force. We’re committed to being open about the ways we collect the fee and how we’re performing.

We have today published our Annual Review, which you can read in full on the . So it feels like an apt time to reflect on last year and the challenges and achievements that came with it.

It goes without saying 2012 was a huge year for live TV events. We collected more revenue - Β£3.7bn, up Β£6.7m from last year. We kept evasion low at around five per cent and drove down collection costs to Β£111m, Β£15m less than last year. Β All this means more money is going towards making the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ’s much-loved programmes and content - TV, radio and digital.
