To celebrate the 75th anniversary of, Humphrey Jennings and Stewart McAllister's poetic collage of British life, Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Four in partnership with BFI Network, have commissioned aspiring filmmakers to capture the diversity of contemporary Britain in a series of new short films.

Announcements and blogs

Drama

On Monday, it was confirmed that multi-award-winning crime drama series will be returning to Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ One. The new four-part series written by Neil Cross and starring Idris Elba, who has received a Golden Globe and Sag Award for his performance in the role of John Luther, will start filming early next year.

Then, on Tuesday Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Two and Tiger Aspect Drama announced the return of Bafta-winning co-production, for the fifth and final series.

Factual

Ahead of her session at the Sheffield Documentary Festival, , has announced a wide range of new documentary commissions from acclaimed and established directors and producers including Mark Raphael, John Douglas, Arthur Cary, Morgan Matthews, Lynn Alleway, Daisy Asquith and Edmund Coulthard, as well as emerging talent like Daniel Dewsbury and Marcus Ploughwright.

Entertainment

A investigation, in partnership with the University of Oxford, into children’s sleep patterns following the clock change in March has revealed that surprisingly sleep time increased and sleepiness reduced, against expectations. The investigation also revealed that the children reacted quicker in the afternoon, irrespective of clock change.

Meanwhile, it was announced that the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Terrific Scientific primary science initiative will culminate with a behind the scenes visit to the McLaren Technology Centre for a special all about forces.

Radio

International

has launched special content for Thai-speaking learners. Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Learning English - Thai is now live on the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Learning English website as well as Facebook and Instagram channels.

Meanwhile,  have announced a new collaboration to produce a series of radio documentaries and podcasts for launch in 2018.
