A tour of North Berwick

Description

Tess visits North Berwick on the east coast of Scotland. The harbour in North Berwick has existed for over 1,000 years. It has a natural rocky promontory which provides shelter for boats. North Berwick also has an extinct volcano called the North Berwick Law, which overlooks the town.

Classroom Ideas

Students could write down any new key vocabulary learned in this clip including: ‘extinct’ and ‘promontory’. Students could go on to play a game where they each take a turn to call out a word to do with a theme, such as ‘the coast’. As students call out, the words could be written on the board giving the chance for the rest of the class to agree or disagree that the word relates to the theme. When a student can’t think of a new word then they are out. The last student standing is the winner!
