Here are some useful instructions that you might hear your teacher use in class:

  • - Listen

  • - Look

  • - Sit down

  • - Stand up

  • - Silence please

  • - Put your hands up

  • - Repeat

(These are all written in the plural form of the verb which you use when talking to more than one person)

Here are some things you might use in class:

'Do you have...?'

A pencil

To ask a person if they have something, you can say:

- Do you have…?

You can then add the noun (the thing) you want to know about.

Examples:

  • - Do you have a rubber?
  • - Do you have a pencil?

( comes from the verb , which means 'to have' )

'I have...'

To talk about what you have or don't have, you can say:

- I have…

or

- I don’t have…

Examples:

  • - I have a rubber
  • - I don’t have a pencil
