Using 3D printing in the fashion industry

Description

Science presenter Rani Price meets Bryan Oknyansky, a designer who is pioneering the use of 3D printing in the fashion industry. He describes how he starts from a 3D scan of a model’s foot, before using computer aided design (CAD) to help design a shoe and test its strength. He then produces the shoe using a 3D printer, which layers molten plastic to build up the 3D object precisely. Bryan also explains how his background and qualifications as an architect enable him to apply maths and physics to solving exciting problems in the world of fashion.
