Self-evaluation
Self-evaluation can be a very useful way to gather information on a performance.
The performer may consider completing a self-reflection profile. This is the process of recording their own opinions and reflections on how they felt they performed. This should be completed directly after the performance, so that the exact information can be recorded.
A self-reflection profile allows the performer to critically evaluate their own performance. This may lead to a more open identification of development needs, which would be more useful when designing a personal development plan.
Question
A performer decided to use a self-reflection profile to find out what their anxiety levels were like during a performance. What would be a good description of this profile?
Immediately after the performance, a self-reflection profile on levels on anxiety throughout the performance was completed. The performer took time after the performance to highlight the key stressful moments of the performance and took notes on the profile of when and why they occurred.
Question
Why would this be a useful method to gather information?
This allows the performer to really reflect back on their own performance and give an accurate account to how they were feeling at key stressful points in their performance.
Having identified points where stress has a negative impact, development can be focused on improving performance at these points.
