Picky Bits | Scratch Night

Deadline: Monday 11th November 2024

The text 'Picky Bits, a new scratch night for black and global majority artists. Themes: body hair and immigrant grandparents' on a colourful paisley background

Picky Bits – a one off scratch night are looking for global majority writers. They will pick a collection of ten-minute extracts and, if selected, writers get a slot to perform an extract of work at the night on Monday 25th November. The themes to choose from are body hair and immigrant grandparents, but these can be used loosely based.

Who is this for?

Black and Global Majority comedy artists at any level (Black, Asian, Brown, dual-heritage, indigenous to the global south, and/or have been referred to as "ethnic minorities). 18+ and need to be able to come along to the night in London.

Tech notes: it’ll be a stripped back vibe, so chairs and mics available and a basic state lighting.

A note on actors: we’d like to hear solo writers perform their own work. It’s an opportunity to bring your written words to life. So we're looking for monologues and/or the beginnings of a one person piece. So a rough and ready kinda vibe.

Fees:

A nominal Β£30 will be paid to all writers whose work has been selected to perform, and one free rehearsal space slot (subject to availability on key dates offered).

Deadline: Monday 11th November 2024

Date of Scratch Night: Monday 25th November 2024, 7pm
