The Writer's Prize for Radio Drama

In 2013 ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ Radio joined forces with ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ Writers to launch The Writer’s Prize: an innovative and prestigious new writing award for Radio Drama.

Writing something that wins something? Nope. Never happens. Never gonna happen to me. Just isn’t.

The Writer's Prize 2013

In its first year two Radio Dramas were selected for commission:  by Simon Topping and  by Sarah Hehir. Sarah’s drama Bang Up was first broadcast on Radio 4 in August 2013 and Simon’s script launched Radio 4’s  in May 2014.

One of the runners-up,  by Iain AJ Ross, was also commissioned to be part of the second  on ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ Radio 4 and broadcast on 11 June 2015.

The judges Roy Williams, Jeremy Howe and Kate Rowland were really impressed by the range and calibre of the drama scripts. As Kate Rowland observed, β€œWe were confronted by complex storytelling, boldness and an emotional engagement that comes from writers passionate about their subject.”

'A Thing Inside A Thing Inside a Thing' has been , for the best original script by a writer new to Radio.

The Writer's Prize 2014

The winner was  for her script .  Christine's script was produced by ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ Radio Drama Scotland and launched Radio 4's  on 8 June 2015.
