The 'Lonely Tree' of Llanberis

The beautiful image of the sparkling lakeside and stunning backdrop of mountains was chosen by the public as their favourite of 10 finalists which made it to the online poll. The photo was taken before sunset on a calm, cold day by Weather Watcher Ani-Caul, whose real name is Ruth Evans.

The Lonely Tree is very in-tree-ging, isn't it? In the centre of the image you can spot the birch tree which is known locally as the Lonely Tree or the Lone Tree with its roots in the lake.

The tree is said to be one of the most popular photo locations in north Wales with photographers and Instagrammers, so hopefully this lonely tree on the lakeside is not so lonely anymore!

Ruth told Â鶹ԼÅÄ Weather that she was walking past the location and by chance took the photo: "The shot was not planned. We were taking our dogs for a walk and I took the opportunity for a beautiful photo."

Many congratulations to our winner, and very well done to all the other shortlisted finalists. You can see all the photos again by clicking here.
