Your man in Seaham

Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio Newcastle's reporter Russ Ward will be in Seaham on the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Blue Bus during 21 - 25 May - and he wants to get in touch with you!

I'm Russ Ward, and I'm the reporter covering Seaham, as part of a much wider area, for Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio Newcastle.Μύ I've been doing the job for more than nine years now.

Seaham Town Centre. By Terry Smith
Seaham Town Centre

Usually based in Sunderland, I'll be in Seaham and in the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio Newcastle Blue Bus, or not far from it, during our week focusing on the town which starts on Monday, 21 May.ΜύThe Blue Bus will be on the green close to the war memorial.ΜύYou can't miss it.

I want Seaham folk to come and talk to me and to tell me their stories.

I want to know about you and what makes you tick, AND I want to know about what makes Seaham special.

Your stories and your views

What's your take on how far your town has come since the dark days of 1993, when the last pit, Vane Tempest, closed?

How have the changes since then affected your life, and what's been your part, big or small, in making those changes happen?

What's the best thing about what's happened to Seaham since those dark days?Μύ Is it East Shore Village on the site of the former colliery?Μύ Has that been the springboard for the town's upward progress?

Seaham Hall. By Terry Smith.
Seaham Hall

What about the move of Seaham Dock Company, the new road to the A19, the Foxcover Industrial Estate and the redevelopment of Seaham Hall which has become one of the region's top hotels and spas?

There's the seafront, the promenade and within all those large, eye-catching changes there are the people making it happen or simply living amongst and witnessing the changes.

Are you one of them?ΜύHave you moved into Seaham from outside the town? Are you working here, or just started a business?

Come and speak to me because I want to know.

We're also looking to give YOU the chance to record your own story which could be broadcast by Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio Newcastle.

If you want to get in touch with me before 21 May or to get some more information, why not give me a call on 077 10 008 884 or email:

You can also get in touch with the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Wear team, who will be on the bus too during the week:
