ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ Cardiff Singer of the World and Song Prize competitor

Tomislav LučiΔ‡ was born in Split and graduated in marine sciences before studying singing at the Opera Studio in the National Theatre, Split with Maria Boga-Verdes, and then at the Music Academy in Zagreb with Vlatka OrΕ‘aniΔ‡.

In 2006, two years after his first singing classes, he won first prize at the National Singing Contest in Dubrovnik. He obtained a CEE Musiktheater scholarship, then qualified for the Opera studio CNIPAL in Marseille for 2006/2007. He attended master classes with Olivera Miljaković, Yvonne Minton, Tom Krause, Louis Langrée, Yevgeny Nesterenko and David Syrus.

Also in 2006, Tomislav made his stage debut at the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb, performing Colas (Bastien et Bastienne) and Der Sprecher (Die ZauberflΓΆte) and sang Figaro (Le nozze di Figaro) at the National Opera of Bucharest. Concert appearances included Mozart's Requiem in Zagreb and Handel's Messiah in Granada and Valladolid.

In July 2008 he sang in Ildebrando Pizzetti's Fedra in Montpellier, to be released on CD. Since 2007 he has been a company member of the Deutsche Oper Berlin, and in 2009/2010 will join Staatsoper Dresden. Engagements in 2009 include Masetto (Don Giovanni) for OpΓ©ra de Lyon and Stravinsky's Le Rossignol in Aix-en Provence in 2010.

In his spare time, Tomislav enjoys speargun diving and playing snooker.

Tomislav LučiΔ‡ was selected to take part in the ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ Cardiff Singer of the World Song Prize Final but was unwell and had to withdraw.
