Privacy Notice for Children's Uploads

Updated: 8 September 2023

For parents/guardians! This privacy notice is written for children to understand - so we've written it from your child's viewpoint (e.g. 'your creation' means your child's creation).

Teens! 13 or older? Read this instead.

We want to let you know that your information is safe with us. This is just a quick word to let you know how we handle your information when you send your creation to us.

What information about me do you ask for?

We might ask for information about you like your first name, age and hometown.

You might give us information about you in the creation you send to us. Sometimes we might be able to tell who you are if you send us a photo or video that you are in.

Please don’t give us private information about you or your friends or family.

Why do you ask for that information?

We might publish your creation. This means it might be shown on one of our TV shows or online, for everyone to see. If we do publish your creation, we might show your name and age next to it so everyone knows who created the masterpiece!

How can the Â鶹ԼÅÄ use my information?

We need to have a good reason to use your personal information. It's called the 'lawful basis for processing'. For kids, the lawful basis is that we ask for your parent/guardian to say 'yes' to the Â鶹ԼÅÄ having your creation and information about you. Saying 'yes' is sometimes called 'giving consent'. Because your parent or guardian has said 'yes', we can use the creation and information in the ways that we've told you and your parent or guardian about, including when the creation contains special, more sensitive, kinds of information, like information about your health, or your religious beliefs.

Your parent or guardian can always change their mind. If it's about a creation you've sent us they can contact us.

Or if they want you to stop sending us your creations they can do this in your Â鶹ԼÅÄ account settings.

How do you look after information about me?

We keep it safe.

We turn information we hold about you (not your creation itself!) into a secret code so that nobody else can see it.

How long do you keep information about me for?

We'll store your information for 7 years.

How long will you keep my creation once I send it to you?

If we publish your creation, we can use it anywhere in the world, forever and in all types of media. You can find out more about what we might do with your creation in our Terms of Use.

If we don't publish your creation, we'll delete the creation and information about it from our systems within 2 years.

What happens to my creation if I delete my Â鶹ԼÅÄ account?

If it's published, your creation will stay published even if you delete your Â鶹ԼÅÄ account. If you delete your Â鶹ԼÅÄ account we'll delete all information you gave us to open or update your account within 2 years. Deleting your account might automatically change your display name so nobody knows it is you. Sometimes though we can't automatically change your display name, like when one of our editors has typed in your display name.

Who do you share information about me with?

We use other companies to help us deliver our services and sometimes we ask them to process information about you for us. For example, we need to make sure that the creations we publish are safe and suitable so we use a company called Dentsu X to check your creations. We always make sure that information about you is looked after as if we were handling it ourselves. We carefully choose the companies, only share with them the information about you that they need to do the work, and we make sure they keep your info safe.

We won't share information about you with anyone else, except in special cases, like when it will help keep you safe.
