Bouncing back from breast cancer

Lesley Shaw from Gateshead set up a shop to help women with breast cancer, after battling with the disease herself.

Imagine you are at the hospital for a routineΜύmammogram or perhaps having a lump investigated.

The doctor sits you down, looks you in the eye and says 'I'm sorry it's breast cancer'.

Even though you might have feared the worst, to hear those words is still a tremendous shock, as Lesley Shaw from Gateshead knows only too well.

Mum-of-three Lesley was diagnosed with breast cancer when she was 39 and as a nurse she had some idea what the following months would entail.

Bouncing back

As a result of her experiences - particularly the difficulty of finding a bra that was comfortable and didn't look like something her granny would wear - she decided to open up a shop in Gateshead to help other women like her.

Gilly Hope popped along to Bouncing Back in Gateshead to have a chat with Lesley about her experiences. You can listen to the interview by clicking on the link below.
