Jaap Kroese, owner of the Swan Hunter shipyard, says the business is effectively finished.
Mr Kroese has sold the Wallsend yard's iconic cranes and says he is now looking to sell off the land on the banks of the Tyne too.

bright327 Its got to be said this all kicked off in the Thatcher years,our company supplied Ships telegraphs over 100 years old but also gone like nearly all manufacturing.
john mcglone sad to see the demise of this facility i worked there when transferred from govan shipbuilders and worked on the replacement for the atlantic conveyor
