The midwife appointment can seem daunting for both partners… but it is a lot less scary than you might think. Judi Love tells us how it is.
It can be a great chance to figure out how best to support each other through pregnancy.
Sophie:
Are you seriously not gonna come?
Mark:
You'll be fine. And you know…
Mark (inner voice):
A midwife appointment. That's gonna be so awkward. Why does she want me there? What goes on at a midwife appointment anyway? I bet they'll want her to take her clothes off and do all sorts of weird tests. I'll just stood there like a right knob. No thanks. I mean, I'm not the one having the baby.
Sophie:
See ya then.
Mark:
See ya.
Judi:
Let's pause it. You know what, you're right. You're not the one having the baby but if you wereyou'd want her with you, right?
Mark:
I suppose.
Judi:
Of course you would. Her body's changing, her hormones have got her head spinning like a dog with a biscuit on its tail. She's going to a new place to talk to new people about your new baby. It's a massive day. And instead you want to sit here and watch your team get their butt kicked.
Mark:
No, course I don't.
Judi:
Then go with her. She's just going to have to take a simple blood sample and a wee sample sample too. It's nothing for either of you to worry about. If anything, it's a chance for you guys to get advice on how you're going to get through this pregnancy together.
Mark:
You're right, Judi.
Judi:
You got this.
Mark:
Hang on, of course I'll come.
Sophie:
What about the match?
Mark:
I'm more interested in our little City fan.
Sophie:
They might support United.
