When your baby plays with toys, they'll have more fun and learn more if you join in.

Giovanna explains all the things you can teach your baby when you play together with toy cars, trains or planes!

Join in and play with your baby's toys

No matter if it's toy cars, planes or trains - they're not just for your baby to play with - you can join in too!

There are many things you can do to help develop your child's language skills while playing with toys. Name the toy vehicle; say "car" or "train" as you play. This gets your baby used to hearing what objects are called, so keep repeating those words and use them in simple sentences.

When you're playing with your baby, let them lead the play, then wait and respond to their actions. Encouraging your baby to make decisions will give them confidence.

By playing with toys you can encourage your little one to take turns. For example, if they push the toy, roll it back to them. Your baby may copy and repeat again.

Make playtime with your baby extra fun by making silly sounds as you play with toys! Words like "chug-chug-chug-chug" or "vroom" are words that help link sounds to toys.
