How do temperature and light affect growth?

To help answer this, we will take a range of measurements over an eleven day period.

Here is what you'll be doing:

1. Work in groups.

2. Trim the roots of the spring onions to 1.5cm.

3. Measure and cut spring onions so they are 4.5 cm long and then put them in a cup filled with 30ml of water outside.

4. Take daily measurements of the onions' length and also the temperature in the local area.

5. At the end of the eleven days, you will do some calculations and record the average mean temp and the mean height of the classes' spring onions.

You can then analyse your results to see if you can see any patterns and relationships between temperature and light level and the growth of your onion.
