Things got dramatic with Wagner's 'Ride of the Valkyries'

Take a look at some wonderful work made by children across the UK whilst they stay at home.

In week five's activity director Hazel Gould showed you how to become a mythical warrior in a drama workshop inspired by Ride of the Valkyries from Wilhelm Richard Wagner’s opera Die Walküre.

Explore the character of a Valkyrie and use the music to inspire your own dramatic theatrical performance. What will your Valkyrie look like? Where will they live?

Here are your creative responses...

My valkyrie lives in the Himalayan mountains roaming amongst snow leopards, looking for prey. I have a venomous sword, a sharp ice-crystal crown, and a soft snow cape. My clothes are the skin of a snow leopard. I'm as fierce as a tiger, my teeth are as sharp as a vampire and my eyes are icy blue. By Isla Age 7

"We listened to the Ride of the Valkyries and thought about the three parts of the story discussed on the Ten Pieces Clip. I challenged the children to listen to the music and show these three parts in exciting ways . The children were so creative -we had poems , pictures and drama. Here is some drama work all completed at home."
