Two teachers offer top tips and advice to help you get your students through exams.

There can be a great deal of pressure on children to do well in exams which can cause stress and anxiety.

In this film, two teachers describe their different approaches to preparing students for exams.

Primary Teacher Alex Bramley says: “We try not to make the children stressed about them because I think if they start stressing about the exams or thinking about them they just don't produce the best work.”

His school sent a letter home to remind them “The Sats do not assess all of what makes each of you special and unique. The people who create these tests and score them, they do not know each of you the way we do.”

Secondary teacher Tom Knott says it’s important to use exam preparation time wisely, “As a class teacher you need to be really clear on what your students don’t know. There’s no point them doing something they already know how to do.”

And it’s not just all about revision.

His school allows each child to choose a cushion to take into the exam with them: “For the psychology of the children they just feel much more confident in that room. It's not a scary place anymore.”

This is the first in a series of new short films featuring primary and secondary teachers sharing top tips and advice.
