'D-Day has come'.

On 6 June 1944 the Allies landed troops on four beaches in northern France. D-Day had come and the liberation of Europe was underway.

The exact date and timing of the landings was a closely-guarded secret. When the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ announced news of the landings it was following the official confirmation of 'Communique Number One' from General Eisenhower.
