Daniel Ford was still inside his mother's womb when she went to the 2000 Wembley play-off final where Ipswich beat Barnsley. In 2009, he was the Broke Hall Primary School fantasy league champion, so Mark Murphy decided it was time to get him in as a football pundit.

Ipswich could only manage a 1-1 draw at home to Preston, despite the visitors only having ten men from just before half-time:

"I thought we played reasonably well, but we need that spark. It wasΜύ a soft goal, but a brilliant piece of play and a lovely finish by Ross Wallace.

"It was a rubbish penalty, but Jonathan Walters just had to tap-in the rebound. I was surprised by David Wright's absence in this game.

"I'd still play Bruce and McAuley in the centre. Bruce becoming captain has allowed McAuley to settle down and play really well.

"You've got to beat 10 men, but I'd still give them an 8/10. Middlesbrough is going to be a real test."

Ipswich were second from bottom in the Championship table after a 2-0 defeat at West Brom, which might have been a lot worse had it not been for numerous saves by Richard Wright. However, Daniel saw a positive display on his television:

"I thought we played our best performance of the season and there were no high balls. Richard Wright was my man-of-the-match though and he was world-class saving that penalty.

"We really attacked in the second half and Jack Colback was brilliant when he came on. Pim Balkenstein played really well, but I think Roy Keane could drop Pim, make Bruce captain and still bring on McAuley.

"Garvan didn't play well, Trotter's hard-working and Quinn played well when he came on. Walters didn't play well, but they played him on the left and then the right and kept switching him over.

"It's looking like West Brom will win the league.

"I still think they need to play Priskin and Stead up front, but take off Trotter."

Ipswich's poor start to the season continues with a 3-1 defeat at home to Crystal Palace in the Championship.

"I thought Liam Trotter played well as did Alex Bruce. I thought Jon Stead showed flashes when he came on, but Keane should still play him with Priskin.

"There was a lot more passing when Garvan came on. That's what Palace were doing in the first half and they were tearing us apart.

"Nobody was near Darren Ambrose when he scored his second for Palace and I think we should use the man-to-man marking rather than zone marking which doesn't work.

Damien Delaney

"Healey did a brilliant goal-saving tackle in the first half, Damien Delaney was OK, but Lee Martin is really, really good. He's probably the best signing.

"If we're not above mid-table at Christmas, then you can start slating them off. You can't have booing in only the second home game of the season.

"We normally play well against the big clubs, so if Keane plays Stead and Priskin at West Brom then we can win.

"Renaming the North Stand as the Sir Bobby Robson Stand is probably the best news I've heard this week."

Daniel went to the first home game of the season - the 0-0 draw against Leicester City:

"Rubbish, really rubbish. We had about no shots at all and the chances we had were easily saved.

"Delaney was rubbish at left-back - Roy Keane should have played O'Connor. There was no creativity in the game.

"It didn't work with Stead - you need two up front. It looked better when the two subs, Priskin and Wickham, came on because Jim Magilton barely ever made substitutions at half-time and it's better to admit you're wrong.

"I would say play Priskin and Stead up front and either O'Connor or Thatcher at left-back."

Daniel listened to the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Suffolk live match commentary of the penalty shoot-out victory at Shrewsbury in the first round of the League Cup:

Roy Keane

"The youngsters played really well and I liked the way Keane played the older ones to help them. The youngest player at 16 was Connor Wickham who scored twice in normal time and in the shoot-out and he was our best player.

"It was end-to-end stuff and we played better in the second half when we were pressurising them. If we'd have lost it would probably have knocked the younger players' confidence.

"Roy Keane did really well keeping their confidence up and keeping them running.

"I'd like to see one of the big teams come to Portman Road in the next round like West Ham so there would be a big attendence. We played them in pre-season last year and got thrashed."

Like many of the summarisers who'll be working with Brenner Woolley in the commentary box, Daniel has noticed Roy Keane's summer transfer policy ahead of the opening game of the season at Coventry:

"I think they're all reasonably good and I like the way he's brought Jack Colback in [on loan from Sunderland until January]," said Daniel.

"Keane did make some mistakes at Sunderland and hopefully he won't walk out again. I think we'll finish about 4th to be honest.

"I think the top three will be Sheffield United, West Brom and Preston. I think Newcastle will struggle and come about 10th. Ipswich need to pass the ball more. Last season it was a lot of high balls which doesn't work at all.

"Roy Keane's got to keep the players' confidence up and not really rant at them otherwise their confidence will really lower. We've got to play really neat football which hopefully Tamas Priskin [22 year old Hungarian signed from Watford] will bring in."

Daniel doesn't share John Wark's worries that Ipswich need an out-and-out striker to guarantee a top-six finish:

"I'm hoping for goals through Jon Stead and Priskin high up front and if we get Giovanni Dos Santos [the Mexican who was on-loan at Portman Road in 2008/09 before returning to Spurs] they might play him just behind.

"I really like the way he's playing the young players and I think Liam Trotter is really good. I also like Lee Martin as well."

Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Suffolk's Brenner Woolley will be back in the Portman Road commentary box and this is something Daniel aspires to:

"I like to commentate. I play for St John's and I commentate a lot as we go along. So Brenner had better watch out because I might be in his place soon!"
