Run, Santa, Run

Dog walkers and those taking a Sunday constitutional in Ipswich may have been forgiven for thinking they had partaken of a little too much festive sherry, as around 200 Santas were seen running around Christchurch Park.

The festive-themed fundraiser was organised by The East Anglian Children's Hospice (EACH), who were delighted with the turnout for the inaugural event in Ipswich.

Participants were sponsored to run 2km around the central Ipswich park, but the overwhelming popularity of the event provided a handy excuse for some: "I'd love to have run the 2k but there were so many people taking part that I had to walk it," said Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio Suffolk presenter Stephen Foster, who also acted as official starter of the run.

"I was absolutely devastated, but at least the St John Ambulance weren't required."

Foz's colleague Mark Murphy also completed the course. The Breakfast Show presenter was hoping to get rid of a few pounds put on by eating too many mince pies!

Sue Meader from EACH hailed the day as a big success: "It really was a great day. As well as raising a lot of money, it raised lots of smiles and laughter too."

Although Foz is unlikely to put his trainers on again in the near future, the Drivetime presenter was pleased to have helped EACH: "Having been to an EACH open day at the children's hospice in Ipswich I admire greatly the work that goes on there.

"I can't think of a better cause."
