Making Eyes at Elvis

Making Eyes At Elvis

The band formerly known as Charlie Brown formed in 2004, having met at Holbrook High school on Suffolk's Shotley peninsula.

Becky Wilkie - vocals, keyboards, fingerless gloves
Jo Surzyn - bass
Joel Kurta - drums

Charlie Brown formed in the summer of 2004 after Becky enlisted the help of fellow Holbrook High pupils Jo and Joel to play some songs that she had been writing. They worked well together and it wasn't long before they started writing songs as a band.

"In a local scene soaked with guitar lead punk/rock un-originality Charlie Brown stand out as a refreshing offering of musical and lyrical talent."

Mini Review

Their first proper gig was in December 2004 at the Premier Pool Club in Ipswich.Μύ Victory at the Colchester Sixth Form Battle of the Bands in February 2005 enabled them to record their first EP 'Operation Persuasion.'

In 2005 they played Manchester's In The City and recorded a session for Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio Suffolk's Drivetime Show.Μύ Having created a big noise in the Ipswich area, they gave something back by supporting the inaugural John Peel Day gig at the Steamboat Tavern in 2005 and the first multi-media Braincandy event at the town's Corn Exchange. The change of name to Making Eyes At Elvis followed in summer 2006.

Don't waste an evening going to see this...I dont know why their review talks about the local scene being saturated with any type of music...I think we are very lucky in Suffolk to have such an excellent variety of local/live music.
