Three-time Olympic champion Ben Ainslie will face no further punishment after he at December's World Championships.

The International Sailing Federation has backed a decision take by the Royal Yachting Association,

At the same time the RYA cleared Ainslie to fight for his fourth consecutive Olympic gold.

An Isaf committee said "the penalties imposed to date are appropriate".

Ainslie, who was leading the Finn race at the World Championships in Perth, had just crossed the finish line in second place when he believed a media boat passed too close.

He lost his temper and boarded the media boat to confront the crew.

He was subsequently disqualified from races nine and 10, denying him the chance to win a medal.

The RYA confirmed in February that Ainslie would face no further punishment.
