Cardiff Devils lost a Challenge Cup nail-biter at home to Manchester Storm, who won in overtime after a thrilling home comeback tied the game in normal time.

The visitors leapt into a two-goal lead with Grant Hebert and then Stephen Johnson firing the puck past Devils netminder Ben Bowns.

Tyler Busch got Devils going early in the second period, assisted by Zach O'Brien and Cole Sanford, only for Jake Durflinger to restore the two-goal advantage before Loren Ulett stretched that lead on the powerplay.

Joey Martin kept Devils in sight with the hosts' second score, but Joe Morrow made it 5-2 to Storm early in the second half.

That sparked a thrilling Devils comeback, as Reid Duke and Sanford - with two powerplay goals - tied the game with seven minutes of the third period remaining.

That ushered in overtime, with Grant Hebert's powerplay goal giving Storm victory in a game they had never trailed in.
