    This season holds higher levels of pressure and expectations than in recent memory for the Hatters.

    When first promoted to the second tier in 2018 the aim was survival and this was secured on the final day of the season with a wage bill vastly smaller than most other Championship clubs.

    This time Luton Town have a squad with Premier League experience, and with access to far greater financial resources than before, including parachute payments.

    While questions linger over injuries and recruitment, there will be pressure on manager Rob Edwards to get his side competing for an instant return to the division that many thought it impossible for the Hatters to get to in the first place.

    There are still clubs in the division with greater resources, and arguably better squads.

    But not many will look at Luton and write off their chances of finishing in the playoff places, or even potentially going one step further this season.
