Chelsea striker Armando Broja has seen a loan move to Ipswich collapse because of an injury.

An initial loan move with an obligation to buy for £30m had been agreed but an issue flagged in the medical put Ipswich off completing the deal.

They are now looking at alternative options before deadline day as the Albania international, 22, is expected to stay at Stamford Bridge.

A move to another club isn't being ruled out but Broja needs a period of rehabilitation to work on a foot injury sustained in training while on the pre-season tour of the United States.

Broja scored two goals in 19 appearances for Chelsea last season before spending the second half of the campaign on loan at Fulham.

It may be decided that he stays with his boyhood club until January before seeking a move when fully fit.
