Dan Grimshaw hopes to take his chance to become Plymouth Argyle's first-choice goalkeeper in the wake of Conor Hazard's injury.

The 26-year-old moved to the club from Blackpool last month in the wake of Michael Cooper's transfer to Sheffield United.

Having made his debut in a Carabao Cup loss at Watford last month, Grimshaw made his first league start in last Saturday's 3-2 win over Sunderland.

It came after Hazard was ruled out for three months following ankle surgery.

"It's one that I came for and one that I hope to take," Grimshaw said of the opportunity for an extended run in the side.

"I had a good start on Saturday, but that's already gone now so you've got to try and push on in these next games."

Grimshaw says he has enjoyed working with Northern Ireland international Hazard since moving to Â鶹ԼÅÄ Park.

He has also been getting to know new signing Marko Marosi, who has joined on a short-term deal to cover for Hazard.

"Obviously I want to play, I want to be in the team, but I also don't wish anything bad or my team-mates not to play well, I want them to do well," Grimshaw added to Â鶹ԼÅÄ Radio Devon.

"It was good to see him doing well and I'm sure he'll get back and be back in training as soon as possible and then he'll be pushing me and that's how we'll work together.

"Marco's an experienced goalkeeper, he's played a lot of games so he's not just going to come here and just sit there and accept that I'm going to play.

"You don't want that, you want a nice, healthy competition between us all and everyone supporting each other in the right way."
