Exeter City winger Demetri Mitchell could return to action at the end of the month.

The 27-year-old former Manchester United academy player has been out since the end of last October after injuring his anterior cruciate ligament.

Mitchell was hurt in Exeter's Carabao Cup fourth round loss to Middlesbrough and has been gradually returning in recent weeks.

Mitchell signed a new one-year contract at St James Park in June and has scored five goals in 33 games since joining from Hibernian in January 2023.

Exeter City boss Gary Caldwell hopes he can play some part in the Grecians' EFL Trophy game with Bristol Rovers on 29 October - 364 days after he was injured.

"That would be the target at the moment, but we are taking it slowly, we're getting him into training and certain drills," Caldwell told Â鶹ԼÅÄ Radio Devon.

"He's still not had any contact, so there's still a lot of hurdles to get over, but that is the game that we're looking at to get some minutes in."
