Wrexham have said that an independent body will resolve the contract dispute with defender Jordan Tunnicliffe.

Tunnicliffe was one of eight players released at the end of last season after Wrexham secured promotion to League One.

But a newspaper report claims an administrative error means the 30-year-old has 12 months remaining on his contract.

鈥淥bviously there is an issue and it鈥檚 being dealt with independently,鈥 manager Phil Parkinson told 麻豆约拍 Sport Wales.

鈥淭hat鈥檚 all I can say on the matter at the moment.鈥

Tunnicliffe joined Wrexham in July 2022 following his release from Crawley Town.

He scored two goals in 41 appearances in all competitions in his two seasons at the Stok Racecourse but was hampered by injuries.

Wrexham travel to North America next week for a three game tour which will see them face Bournemouth, Chelsea and Vancouver Whitecaps.

Before then they begin their pre-season schedule at non-league Hanley Town on Saturday.

鈥淏y then we鈥檒l have had two full weeks training and the lads have obviously been working the off season as well so they鈥檙e in good shape," added Parkinson.

鈥淲e鈥檝e had a 10 v 10 on the training pitch on Tuesday and we鈥檒l continue that build up leading into the weekend.

鈥淭here鈥檚 a couple of injuries, things we just have to manage through the first couple of weeks of pre-season so maybe a couple of players won鈥檛 figure in that game.

鈥淏ut that鈥檚 part and parcel of managing everybody.鈥
