Stevenage have signed former Brentford defender Charlie Goode on a one-year contract, with an option for a further 12 months.

He is Boro's seventh signing of the summer ahead of their opening League One game of the new season, at home to Shrewsbury Town on Saturday.

The 29-year-old did not play for the Bees last season, but made 13 appearances in League One during a loan spell with Wigan Athletic.

"Charlie has missed a lot of football over the last four years, but he’s passed every medical and physical test we’ve put in front of him," said Boro boss Alex Revell.

"He’s a big character, a commanding presence in both boxes and he can play. Those are qualities we value and he’s keen to get back playing regular football again."

Stevenage finished ninth in the third tier last season, five points outside the play-off places.
