Barnsley chief executive Khaled El-Ahmad will leave on 15 December to join MLS club Minnesota United.

The Tykes say they will restructure the club's hierarchy, appointing a new chief executive and sporting director.

Chief revenue officer Jon Flatman will act as chief executive and academy director Bobby Hassell will oversee football operations in the meantime.

Barnsley are seventh in League One but were kicked out of the FA Cup last week for fielding an ineligible player.

Former club captain Hassell, 43, made 300 appearances for the club between 2004-14.

Tykes chairman Neerav Parekh told the club website: "Both Jon and Bobby have the experience and passion needed to run the club on a day-to-day basis whilst we ensure we have a solid team off the pitch to drive us forward."
