Queen of the South 0-1 Kilmarnock: Jason Naismith with added-time winner

  • Published

Kilmarnock continued their perfect start to the Scottish Championship term thanks to Jason Naismith's added-time winner against Queen of the South.

The right-back shot low into the far corner after being found by a nice pass from substitute Rumarn Burrell.

Kilmarnock manager Tommy Wright felt Liam Polworth's first-half effort should not have been ruled offside, while Blair Alston went close.

Roberto Nditi and Ruari Paton had earlier missed good chances for Queens.

The hosts also had to replace goalkeeper Josh Rae on the hour mark following a clash with Brandon Haunstrup, Charlie Cowie coming on.

Queen of the South assistant manager Sandy Clark: "The lads are sick in the dressing room because we put so much into the game. We could easily have sneaked it but probably didn't work the goalkeeper enough.

"Josh Rae has a big cut on the side of his nose and he'll go for an x-ray to check his nose and cheek are okay."

Kilmarnock manager Tommy Wright: "We had to be patient and keep going right to the end. Queens made it really difficult for us.

"We've drilled into the players it's going to be like that away from home."
