Sam Cosgrove: Birmingham City complete deal for Aberdeen striker

Striker Sam Cosgrove has signed for Birmingham City from Aberdeen on a three-and-a-half-year deal.

The undisclosed fee is , with the Scottish Premiership club describing it as "significant".

The 24-year-old Englishman scored 47 times in 103 appearances for the Dons but has only netted three times in 16 games during this campaign.

"I wouldn't be here if I didn't think I was ready to take on the challenge," Cosgrove told the

Cosgrove, who started his career with Wigan Athletic, joined Aberdeen for around £30,000 after leaving Carlisle United in 2018.

"He's been a good servant to us, but we felt it was the right time for him to move on, on the back of the offer we received, and with 18months left on his contract," said Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes.

"The improvement in Sam since he arrived is clear for all to see and I've no doubt he will go on and do well at Birmingham. We have benefited greatly from his goals and overall contribution to the team."

Meanwhile, Birmingham have terminated the contract of former Chelsea midfielder Josh McEachran by mutual consent.

The 27-year-old made 10 appearances after joining Blues in September 2019.
