Dundee missed the chance to move second in the Scottish Championship after being held at bottom club Arbroath.

The visitors led through Charlie Adam's early penalty after Thomas O'Brien was penalised for handball.

Danny Mullen rattled the crossbar and Osman Sow had a shot well saved as Dundee failed to add to their advantage in a dominant first half.

They were punished when Ricky Little crashed home a 65th-minute header from Bobby Linn's corner to equalise.

And O'Brien cleared an Adam effort off the line in the final minute to end Dundee's run of three successive league wins.

James McPake's side - who lost Mullen, Cammy Kerr and Liam Fontaine to injury - are now level on points with second-place Dunfermline Athletic and seven adrift of leaders Hearts.

Arbroath move within a point of Alloa Athletic.

Arbroath manager Dick Campbell: "A draw is a fair result for me. Don't forget we are part-time. I'm just a wee bit disappointed we don't have composure in front of goal. I'm trying hard to sort that out."

Dundee boss James McPake: "The biggest disappointment is it's a goal from a set-play we've conceded. It's a game we should've won. We know that from the chances in the first half."
