Argentine striker Gonzalo Higuain has joined David Beckham's MLS side Inter Miami after his Juventus contract was mutually terminated.

The 32-year-old joined Juve from Serie A rivals Napoli for an Italian record fee of £75m in July 2016.

At the time it was the world's third most expensive transfer.

Higuain, who played with Beckham at Real Madrid in 2006-07, links up with ex-Juve team-mate Blaise Matuidi, who joined Inter Miami last month.

"I think it will be a beautiful experience in my life," said Higuain.

"It's what I was looking for - a new experience, a new league and a beautiful city. I feel good, I feel whole as a player.

"I've been watching MLS for many years because of my brother [Federico Higuain plays for DC United]. It's always been a league that interested me, that I've looked at fondly and after talking to my brother and my family, I think it's a good time to come here."

Higuain scored 66 goals in 149 games for Juve - as well as having loan spells at AC Milan and Chelsea - but never quite lived up to expectations.

Last month, new Juventus boss Andrea Pirlo announced Higuain would soon be leaving the Turin club.

"He was a great champion, a great player but the cycle is over," ex-Italy midfielder Pirlo said.
